Anyone induced at 37 weeks?

I'm only just under 18 weeks, but it seems they would now like to induce me at 37 weeks. I suspect that as all my labours, except the first, have naturally occurred before 38 weeks suggests that maybe my babies are ready to be born around then anyway, but I'm still not convinced its a good idea.

Has anyone been induced at 37 weeks? Did it work and was your baby ok?

Hi Midori

Yes I was induced at exactly 37 weeks with ds3. Ds 1 and 2 had both been 2 weeks late so I was v nervous about it working, amongst other things.

Worked a treat, a bit too well in fact as it was a very fast labour. His heart rate dropped slightly during birth and he was a little shocked, but was absolutely fine. He is now 18 months and perfect, climbing on me as I try to type.

I guess it depends on what the reason is for them inducing you as to whether you think it's a good idea or not. Hope all goes well x

DD2 was induced at 37 weeks.
The inducement itself wasn't very nice and my labour was 2 and a half hours of hell but other than that everything was fine.
DD2 did suffer from a bit of jaundice but it was only a mild bout.

I was induced wuth no2 at 37 weeks. Contractions started as soon as they broke my waters. I only had about 30minutes of strong contractions and she was here. Think the whole labour was about 2 hours from waters breaking to baby in my arms.

Thanks. The reason for induction is to stop my anti coagulation before labour to reduce the risk of post partum haemorrhage mainly. Although it also means it would make things easier if I needed a section or forceps etc. they would usually induce at 38 weeks, but because my labours are usually before then they feel 37 weeks would be sensible.

Obviously things can change between now and then, but I've had two births previously where I hadn't stopped anticoagulation prior to labour, although I managed not to birth within 12 hours of my last injection both times and all was well. I also have GD, which can affect lung maturity and also causes problems when steroids are given, which is obviously also a factor.

Did those induced at 37 weeks have antenatal steroids? I know 37 weeks is classed as 'term' but i think they're recommended now if induction or section is before 39 weeks.
