Travel insurance

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good insurance company for me. I will be 24 weeks when I travel on Saturday.

I had found a policy I was going to go with (flexi cover) but when I wanted to clarify that pregnancy was fully covered, I was told that childbirth (if natural and no complications) would not be covered. Only complications from pregnancy and childbirth are covered.

Even though at 25 weeks it would be an extremely premature birth, they would only cover if there were complications, as it could still be a natural birth at 25 weeks.

Really want to make sure I have decent insurance in place which will cover me for any pregnancy related problems but will also cover in the unlikely event that I go into labour (very very) early.

I am travelling to Turkey and have a European Health Card and believe this covers maternity care.

Any suggestions for decent travel insurance companies/policies please

Yes. I took out a policy with Direct Line. They covered everything and would also cover the unborn baby if delivered overseas.

I got mine with American Express. They said I didn't have to declare pregnancy as it wasn't a pre-existing condition. They said I would be covered as long as the airlines would accept me on board and I wasn't travelling agains the advice of a doctor/midwife.

I got mine from good to go. Like you, on enquiry I found that most don't cover 'normal' childbirth, the definition of which is as you describe it. I think many people are travelling on policies that would not pay out.

Thanks Ladies and sorry for the slow response. I opted for Direct Line in the end. They were the only ones who seemed to cover everything, including 'normal' labour. Although, frankly, how insurance companies could consider labour at 24 weeks 'normal' is beyond me.
