So. I'm fed up of having twinges, being told baby is engaged and that I'm huge or too big for dates angry. Have walked literally miles today up and down hills (back & legs didn't thank me for that), have been eating pineapple every day for weeks and taking raspberry leaf capsules, and tonight had a vindaloo & DH and I have DTD for the 3rd time this week. Any takers on ideas how long it will take for DC1 to finally make an appearance?!?! So desperate to get this baby out!!!!!!

thanks elsabel - snap - i am spending cash like it's going out of fashion - i seem to want/need something new every day as i am so bored! Thanks for the tip - i haven't really left the house over the last day or two as i have been a bit cold-y but I will be dragging DH out for a walk (to the shops, probably smile) later to see if that helps - if nothing else it'll give my fat backside a bit of exercise!

Oh and best of luck mildred and i hope all goes well!

I'm 38 weeks today and fed up now. Meant to have another week at work but going to finish tomorrow (guilt about that as haven't finished handover notes etc). DS at CM as normal until 20th June so I am relaxing!

I am so so tired. And uncomfy. There is not a single position I find comfortable. My ribs are bruised from the big bum in there and I can't wee properly so need to go every 10 minutes. I'm in a terrible grump!

Mildred good luck. My DS was induction adn even though it was a very medical birth, and not the hypno one I was thinking of, it was lovely, and I remember it fondly smile

Hi emjay i dont know of any tips, but i am going mad by it all to, especially the comments like 'i think youre gonna be late' by people who dont have a clue!

Im just trying to keep moving and doing lots of walking, cant really suggest anything else! Baby had better come soon as im spending so much money not being at work and having too much time on my hands!

emjay78 Thu 30-May-13 14:34:35

Hi eveyrone another lurker/ joiner if that's ok! I am 39+1 with my first and 2/5ths engaged, but no signs of labour starting at all. Really tired now and can't wait to meet my little one, but have tried everything i can think of (apart from castor oil, yuk) to get he/she moving! Everyone has been telling me for weeks that i am bound to be early but turns out they were all wrong - i can see this dragging for another couple of weeks yet unfortunately. Am slowly being driven mad by all the comments and questions from friends and family - any tips on how to keep sane and pass the time?

mildred37 Thu 30-May-13 12:31:00

There is always a chance! I was contracting yesterday afternoon/evening, and its started again today but could all stop again. Just need to wait and see!

Know how you're all feeling - I was told baby wouldn't hang about and would be here before/on/not over due date, but here I am 11 days over still pregnant. Go out, spend money and enjoy your last days of freedom while you can!

elsabel Thu 30-May-13 09:54:59

Hi, been lurking around and thought id join smile

Im 39+4. Midwife said im fully engaged and could go any day (but could also be a while). So obviously im symptom spotting like mad! Getting regular BH and the odd mild pain.

s0fedup i feel for you. Ive got sciatica and it makes this last part so much worse!

mildred any chance of little one turning up today and saving you the induction?

s0fedup Thu 30-May-13 09:38:17

hiya, can I join please!
I am 38+4 and soooo fed up!
This is my 3rd (and final) baby so trying to enjoy my last pregnancy but I have been really suffering with SPD so been in excruciating pain for the past couple of weeks!!
My dh wants her to wait til she is 'cooked' but the thought of 10more days at least is awful!!
I have tried bouncing on ball (tricky with spd) walking (cant with spd) rasberry leaf capsules, evening primrose oil capsules.... arghhhhhhh!!!!!!
How is evertone else doing?

mildred37 Thu 30-May-13 07:57:25

Hiya! I'm fine thanks, 40+11 today and still no baby! I'm booked in for an induction tomorrow so am going to enjoy my last day of freedom lol!

samsmother Wed 29-May-13 22:47:55

Hey Mildred been thinking about you :-). How's things?

mildred37 Mon 27-May-13 21:23:22

How is everyone doing? My niggles turned out to be a loss of plug but thats all....I'm now 41+1 and due another sweep tomorrow. I shall be begging her to break my waters!!

Any baby news??

megarobotdiscoparty Tue 21-May-13 13:10:50

x post mildred - excellent news! sending speedy baby vibes....

megarobotdiscoparty Tue 21-May-13 13:08:59

Congrats Tas!! Sounds like a fab birth, always encouraging to hear positive induction birth stories.

mildred rubbish that things have eased off. stay positive if you can- every niggle is a step closer to mini-mildred! crossing fingers for your sweep.

cramps all day here but pretty sure they're nothing exciting as not even close to regular. so sore though! had no idea niggles could be so....niggly! nobody warns you about this stuff...sure paracetemol and a bath will sort it out as usual [dramatic sigh emoticon]

Hang on in there ladies...we'll have some more babies on this thread soon!

mildred37 Tue 21-May-13 13:01:22

It's so nice reading all your stories smile

Sweep done, wasn't too bad actually. Am 1cm dilated but she could stretch to 2cm as cervix was nice and soft smile had quite a good poke about, said she could feel baby's head very well and hopefully it shouldn't be too much longer now. Booked in for another one next Tuesday, pray to god I won't need it! smile

tasmaniandevilchaser Tue 21-May-13 12:37:30

I can promise they all arrive in the end. Even mini tas, 12 days overdue. I was induced with the prostin gel, nothing happened, then it all kicked off that night, with mini tas nearly being born in the corridor! It was a lovely quick easy labour, v surprising after the last one. Wishing the same for all of you still waiting.

I really really wouldn't recommend castor oil. It contracts your stomach and gives you the runs and if passed on to baby can cause them to poo out the meconium inside the uterus which is dangerous and that's the last thing you need.

Honestly, just relax. You'll need the energy for labour.

mildred37 Tue 21-May-13 10:18:17

Where can you get castor oil from - supermarket? Chemist?

Sat on my gym ball watching homes under the hammer, I lead such a glamorous life grin

Notafoodbabyanymore Tue 21-May-13 09:45:47

Just some encouragement here ladies, it does end (I know you're all aware of that) and the waiting very soon seems like a distant memory!

I know people are a bit wary of castor oil, but it worked for me 4 weeks ago, also worked for both my mum and my nan, each of them induced 3 babies with it, all 2 weeks early. Depends how desperate you are (and if you can get hold of it!)

Good luck to everyone, hope you don't have much longer to wait. Have a brew in the meantime.

mildred37 Tue 21-May-13 08:18:10

No news from me I'm afraid - I'm a grumpy cow this morning! Managed to get back to sleep around 2am and it's all stopped. Thank god the midwife is coming to do a sweep today or I'd be stomping around like Godzilla today!!!!

megarobotdiscoparty Tue 21-May-13 06:53:03

Good luck mildred! Very exciting indeed.

Do we have any news from Purr yet?

Still on the starting blocks here at 40+2, loads of BH but nothing remotely like a contraction. Midwife today. Have been offered a sweep but not feeling much like being rummaged about with tbh! Getting my head round the fact that LO may be in there for another week or two.... in fact I seriously think I might be pregnant forever.

How is everybody else doing?

blondieminx Tue 21-May-13 01:41:19

Ahh fingers crossed for you Mildred!

Can you do some hip circling (holding onto doorframe etc for support), and have a nice hot chocolate?

mildred37 Tue 21-May-13 01:33:50

Will do! Going to try and get some more sleep now, it's wearing off a bit. Hope you manage to get some shut eye xx

cuppateaandagingersnap Tue 21-May-13 01:31:52

Ooooh, good luck, sounds like you're up! I just can't sleep, feeling a bit funny but in a very non specific kind of general achiness kind of way, 40+ 6 now since its officially past midnight but dont think tonights my night! keep us updated!

mildred37 Tue 21-May-13 01:23:13

Up at stupid O'clock in what I think is early labour. Woke up with what feels like severe period pains, with odd waves of nausea and feeling like I need to empty my bowels, but I don't IYKWIM. Tried to get back to sleep but couldn't so thought I'd seek some comfort from MN - DH is snoring obliviously next to me smile

Splatt34 Mon 20-May-13 10:46:18

40+2 & very fed up. sweep tomorrow.

mildred37 Sun 19-May-13 17:53:40

Happy due date to you too megan! It's now officially a race to the finish ;) we've been for a long bumpy drive and a walk around a park, as well as having spicy prawns for tea so lets see if it works smile

Is purr still around or is she having squishy newborn cuddles??
