What to buy for a baby shower?

My friend is due with her first in August, and I have been invited to her baby shower in June. I am due in 2 weeks so really want to buy something before I have my LO as I know who crazy things can be with a newborn.

For my other friend who had a baby last year and will also be at the baby shower, I bought, sock on's, funky giraffe hat and bib set, book, link rings suitable from birth, and a burp cloth(which I prefer to Muslins). this is my standard present for new mums. I think my other friend might replicate my present I gave her as she has raved about it a bit.

I was already planning on getting her a gumgem necklace www.gumigem.co.uk/ after the baby was born. So question is do I get her the necklace for the baby shower? And get something else (some clothes for the baby) for her after the baby is born. Or does anyone have any ideas about what a nice present is for a baby shower (about £20), that means I can get the necklace for her for after the baby is born?

I've no idea what a gumgem necklace is, but I like to gift new mums with a miracle blanket as it was the best thing someone else got me!

I suppose that's the best kind of gift is something you appreciated yourself so if that's this necklace then get that! And you can never have enough muslins! (even if you dont realise this until after you have a baby yourself!)
