Hi all

Only just got my BFP yesterday. Not sure why its still a shock to me after 3mths TTC but hey! :-)

As the title says, do I A. Take the bar out now and let it heal or B. leave it in, see how it goes and hope a maternity bar does the job when needed?

I've heard some horror stories about this subject so I'd rather be safe than sorry!

I had a maternity belly bar. I wish I hadn't bothered as my post pregnancy belly button was different shape and the piercing looked awful. I should have let the piercing close in early pregnancy.

I simply used a longer bar till about 35 weeks then dh requested I remove it as he feared it would ricochet out and embed itself in his forehead grin

Mines still in at 28 weeks, I took it our when pregnant with ds 8 years ago and only put it back in about 18 months ago and it hadn't healed up.

I took mine out while ttc. Now 32 weeks and its not healed over. I'm glad I took it out though as I would be continually catching it, bump gets in the way as it is!!

Thankyou MrsApplepants, thats what I'm worried about. I suppose even with a maternity bar the piercing will stretch.

@ Honeydragon LOL! thanks for making me giggle after a long day at work!

I better take it out sad

Thank you for the replies

@ Littlemiss, Thanks smile. I didn't even think about catching it. Well hopefully mine doesnt heal up either. A small sacrifice really!

I took mine out with ds, and it didn't heal over so was fine after birth. The piercing did stretch a bit but no more to others affected by weight gain. With dd I left it and it was fine smile

If you want to keep the piercing I'd leave it in for a few more months smile

I'm 37 weeks and I just replaced my normal one with a plastic maternity bar. It's fine
