Pregnancy

Please help me with dates. Feeling VERY dense

I have a 13 month DD and just found I'm pregnant Grin

We were planning a second DC, but not TTC, just leaving it to fate if that makes sense?

Anyway, I think my last period was on the 1st week of February so I was convinced I was about 12 weeks when I saw the midwife and based on my LPD she agreed and booked me for a scan and a nuchal transparency.

Just went for the scan and it dated me 8 weeks and 4 days, which ties in nicely with the date of conception (a nice weekend, I remember that Blush ) but that left me really confused...

Is the sonographer talking about gestation, i.e. conception, or proper pregnancy date based on period date? Surely the midwife would know this so why would she book me for the 12 week scan and NT scan?

Please help me understand this?

MW could only go on your hazy recollection of dates though and because you need the NT measurement done by a certain point, she had to refer you for the scan really.

it just turns out you aren't as pregnant as you thought :)

Congratulations anyway :)

They do your actual dates based on the length of the baby at your scan. If you were only measuring 8 weeks thy May call you back at 12-16 weeks

I think LMP method can be really inaccurate unless you have a perfect 28 day cycle - otherwise it's basically two weeks before ovulation. So if you ovulated late, that could explain why you're only 8 weeks now. I think I've got that right anyway! I ovulated late and knew exactly when so I worked out my dates differently to LMP and they were spot on at my early scan.

Good luck with your pregnancy Smile

Oh and agree with the last poster, they will prob need to get you back for 12 weeks.

Also I meant last menstrual period method by LMP as not sure what the abbreviation is for that! Going away now...Wink
