Help, sharp pains high in stomach in early pregnancy

Hi, I'm really panicking as I've got extremely sharp pains in my stomach, I'm only 6 and a half weeks so early pregnancy and haven't had the first scan. It started at 10pm last night and I was hoping it was wind but it hasn't eased in four hours - it's like a dull pain high in the stomach which becomes very sharp in waves. Has anyone got any ideas what it could be? Feel sick with fear.

Jo Alexandra it sounds a bit like wind, try some tonic water maybe. I can't remember other tricks to release wind have a walk around. I'm. I expert. It I'd say it has little to do with pregnancy as it is so high up. Could you have eaten anything dodgy?

Also Panic will make you tense and more painful alexandra so take some slow deep breaths and try to relax and get some sleep. If you still have it in the morning phone gp or in Edinburgh we have an early pregnancy team at the hospital who are good for advice, perhaps you have something similar?

Thanks sweetie really appreciated your message in the middle of the night, I am praying it was just a crazy case of trapped wind - it was agony though for hours, has anyone else ever had that? Was literally doubled over in pain and screaming a couple of times (and I'm not a wimp!) can trapped wind be that painful? No blood which is good. So tired as only managed two hours sleep but really glad the pain has eased now. Wish I didn't have to go to work and could catch up on sleep.

I've had this twice this pregnancy, was in floods of tears and didn't handle it well at all. Bad bout of wind both times. I swear by a rennie and at least one cup of hot water an evening.

Oh really polkadot that makes me feel so much better that someone else also had it and it was just wind (although obviously really sorry you had to deal with the pain too!) My doctor says if the pain comes back, to go to hospital, if not to take the day off and take it easy and rest, so I'm doing that. It's not hurting at all now, really hope it was just severe wind.
