Unbelievably dry knees - any tips?

Skin has been all over the place while PG. Now about a week to go and knees/elbows are just so dry they look like they don't even belong to me anymore!

Appreciate this is a bit of an odd thing to worry about but I am probably focusing on this to take my mind off the impending labour TBH!

I have been using a body scrub once a week, moisturising every day, trying to eat well (with plenty of chocolate on top of the healthy stuff Wink) and drinking gallons of water. Also putting on vaseline over night once a week on the horrible, horrible knees.

Any suggestions?

(God - can't believe I'm having a baby soon! Must focus on knees and nesting!! Smile.

Do you have a Lush store near by? I swear by their Buffy body butter for really dry skin. It's a solid block of scrumminess! It exfoliates as it moisturises. I use it every 3rd day, on wet, clean skin while in the shower. Let it soak for about 2 mins and them gently rinse and pay dry. If you only use it on knees and elbows one block should last for months :).

Thank you Fluffeh.

Yes, we do have a Lush. I will give that a try. Their stuff always smells amazing as too.

You kind of expect certain things when you are pregnant (growing tummy, mood swings etc) but there is are so many other strange things to contend with as well!

Mine too, it's pretty sensitive anyway but since becoming pregnant it's much worse. I started using an extra sensitive washing liquid (either waitrose own sensitive or surcare) and that helped. It's my hands that are really suffering (probably a combo of terrible weather and frequent loo trips!) and I've found slathering nivea cream or e45 cream really helped too.

Neal's Yard Geranium and Orange Body lotion - I swear this is a miracle cream. It goes everywhere and has healed dryness that I never thought possible. Smells divine but is a little pricey. Good luck

Ill second dellabob for Neals Yard cream, but would also recommend Zthe Sanctuary Salt Scrub, you can buy a sachet in Boots if you wanted to trial it before spending the full price?

Good luck!

Aveeno or Lush Dream Cream or Helping Hands

I shouldn't have come back to this thread now I need the neals yard cream too :D. It sounds like it will smell amazing.
An area I've found suffering now I'm too big to reach is my feet. I've had to get my DP on pedicure duty as they are too awful to dare reveal them in a salon. He's doing alright with baths, scrubs and lotions but I daren't let him loose on the nail polish or foot files haha!

I have awful skin in pregnancy, very dry, I moisturise 4 times a day and it keeps it under control, only part of me without dry skin is my hands, mainly because I moisturise every time I wash my hands. I use double base cream on prescription from doctors... Partly as I use it 4 times a day for ds who has eczema, so convinced doctor to prescribe it for me too...

Body shop hemp range? I've had really dry hands and the hemp hand protector is amazing. Haven't tried the body butter but it gets v good reviews on the website. Has a sort of musty, earthy smell - I like it but its not to everyone's taste Smile

Brilliant, thank you for all the suggestions. Thanks

I will pop into town and try some of them out.

The Neal's yard one sounds lovely - fingers crossed it's on sale somewhere!

Well done on getting a pedicure from your DP Fluffeh!

Another vote fir Lush dream cream.

Body ouks on damp skin after the shower wirk really well. Add a layer if cream on the dryest areas.
Dont use a mineral oil. Pretty much Any vegetable oil works. You can add a drop if your favorite essential oil for a treat!
