Pregnancy

How long did it take to conceive your second child and what age are you?

Just wondering really!

I'm 33 and have just had my first ds. We know we want another and definitely don't want a big age gap.

I'm worried by all the recent publicity about how many couples really struggle to get pregnant with their second baby.

Hi, I'm 30 and it took us 6 months second time (was the first month first time), started to worry it wasn't going to happen!

  1. We weren't planning another one and he was a result of the one night we took a risk. I couldn't believe it when i took a pregnancy test! Of course we wouldn't change a thing now.

  1. We had vaguely mentioned that perhaps we'd like another one, and BOOM! I was pregnant.

I think that abstention is the only way we'll stop a 3rd.

I was a couple of months off 40, DD1 was 2, and we had BMS just once. (13 months the first time!).
It depends on whether you have any known fertility issues and how fit & healthy you are as well as age. If all good, you really shouldn't worry.

DD took 3 months and I was 31. Second pg took 4 months and I was 34 but I miscarried. After that it took a year so I was 35 by the time I got pg again.

1st month of trying. So was the first dc. I was 26 when first dc was conceived and 28 when second was conceived. Was utterly convinced both times that it would take ages Confused

Got pg at 37 with DD1 - four months after coming off mini pill. Had taken regular checks for progesterone levels throughout my late 20s and 30s after being told I had PCOS (had ultrasound which confirmed it) took 6 months age 41 with DC2 and am now 35 weeks (and have turned 42) pg. We weren't really trying (i.e timing it with my ovulation days) with either. Wanted big gap between my DCs because of my career. But would recommend following healthy diet and exercise regime if you want to wait until your late 30s /early 40s; I think many women think they can leave it late because they see all the celebs having buns later - most of whom have had help TTC.
