When to worry about a change in movements?

I'm 33 weeks and haven't felt the baby move much at all today. I had a lie down and some ice-cream this evening, and although this did bring on a couple of wriggles she's definitely not being as active as usual. Shall I monitor tomorrow and see, as there have been some movements?

I'm no medical expert but in these cases I would rather over panic than under panic.

Can you phone your local equivalent of triage on labour ward? I've found them invaluable at assessing whether I need to come in.

Ring the hospital tonight (NOW!!) and explain what measures you've already taken. They will be able to tell you what to do from there. At 33 weeks they are the right people to talk to.

They will be very happy to take your call and if necessary assess you. They prefer to see/talk to everyone who is unsure regarding movements than to not hear from those who may be in trouble but didn't want to bother them.

Ring them now...

There are some movements though, just not as many as normal. Does that make a difference with phoning someone?

Yes - but from what you're saying it's still a change/reduction in movement. It could be because baby's changed position but you can't tell that - call now. I'm pregnant with my fourth and on my first I would have been reluctant to call but now I wouldn't hesitate (I have 3 healthy babies at home but it's only after I delivered that I realised just how precious and lucky I was).

Call...

Did you call?

I'm drinking some cold water and lying on my side. See if that helps. There's been some definite wriggles.

My movements decreased at 30 weeks, i was put on a kick chart if there hadnt been 10 strong movements by 9pm i had to go it ! Turned out DS had static growth with a problem with the placenta and i had to deliver prem he is perfectly healthily luckily but if i wasnt a worrier i wouldn't of called

You need to call when it comes to ur unborn child nothing is more important if it means a late night and trip to go on the monitor its sure worth it to ur baby is safe!

I've had a drink of very cold water and she's moving round lots and strong wriggles too. All seems fine, I'll closely monitor tomorrow and see a midwife if needed.

I also did a lot of burping, so maybe some trapped wind was stopping me feel her as much?! Gosh pregnancy is so glamorous, I'd forgotten the wind!
