Pregnancy

17 Weeks and less movements

Hi there

I started to feel the movements of the baby around 15 weeks. Usually it was for 2-3 days I could feel it and then for 2-3 days nothing. As of week 16 I felt it 2-3 days then 1-2 days nothing but now since Friday it is less movements and only for a couple seconds. Not all day long as before.
Should I be worried or is this normal that the baby is more hiding?

Sorry to bother but this is my first pregnancy.
Thanks

I didn't feel mine at all until 17 weeks. I think it depends on the baby's position, so it may not be reduced movements but just you're feeling it less. I'm 20 weeks now and only feel it for a few seconds a couple of times each day.

Do you have your next midwife appointment soon? Maybe mention it but as so few women feel much at 17 weeks anyway, I wouldn't think it was anything to worry about.

hi. the whole movement thing has driven me nuts so far. felt v faint movememts from about 15 weeks, am now 22 and they are still very sporadic though sometimes quite strong. but after an "active day" i can feel barely anything for a while. at my 20 wk scan was told that my placenta is anterior which is fine but basically in front of baby causing a "cushion" for him to kick into which i dont feel. you could have the same, or not. call the mw if you're very worried but i assure you that strange patterns are normal early on, it doesnt stop us all worrying sick though!!!

If you have any concerns about your pregnancy, please call your midwife. Most women don't feel the baby moving at 17 weeks, but every woman - and baby - is different.

Normal :)

My baby at that stage had active days and quiet spells too, sometimes a few days, all to do with what position they squirrel themselves away in, where your placenta is too.

Feeling movements can be very hit or miss up til about 22-24 weeks anyway which is why you aren't recommended to count the movements til later on.

having said that though, of course contact your MW for reassurance if you still need it :)

If you have any concerns about baby's movement then contact your midwife, I know it's very early but she could do a Doppler and you can have a listen in to reassure you.

If you're worried, don't wait as you will feel a lot happier when you've had everything checked out.
