Pregnancy after c-sec?

How long did you/ would you wait before ttc?

I know the official advice is 18-24 months. But it took us a few years to concieve Dd1 who is now five weeks old Smile

I love being a mum and definitely want at least 2 more!!! But I am heading to 27 and DH is headed to 40 so dont really want big gaps between babies.

Anyone have any experience/advice?

The consultant I saw also said to wait a year.

Got pregnant 5 months after emergency c-section. Nobody told me I needed to wait a minimum time before conceiving again, even tho internally I have a vertical scar which was slightly more likely to rupture etc (it didn't).

I was told absolutely no need to wait and could start TTC straight away.

I had a c section 6 months ago and i am 3 months pregnant. My gp said by 3 months your scar will be just as strong as it will be 12 months on. Things heal generally quickly. Ive had no problems with my scar since the cs, no reopenings, infection etc.
I saw a consultant about my birth options yesterday and she was not worried about my previous cs at all. There is no increased risk of scar rupture and it will be possible for me to have a VBAC Smile
Scar ruptures are unusual- 0.5% or 1 in 200 women (most of these with a vertical incision). Very rare.
Only concern is the scar may itch she said, i'm fine with that! Wink
Good luck with whatever you decide to do but in your shoes i waited till my 12 wk check then ttc straight away- pg the first month Grin

I wasn't given any advice at all regarding TTC after CS. I am 38+5 with no2 now and got pregnant when DS was 18 months. Haven't had any problems at all.

Only 15 months between my two Blush both elective sections. Have never been advised to wait and am having 3rd section in 3.5 weeks..
