Went for a dating scan at 5+5wks. Was shocked as they found a heartbeat but also found blood around the sac. She said its fairly common but could be dangerous if i start bleeding as might wash the ptegnancy out with it. Anyone else had the same?

I had the exact same thing at around 5 weeks. I went for an early scan due to pains and was told there was blood surrounding the sac. I'm 15 weeks now and didn't suffer from any bleeding or spotting. HTH.

Thanks keepsmiling. Went for a reassurance scan as had a mmc in dec where baby just didnt grow properly from start and there was blood around the sac then too but dont dont think the 2 were connected. Never started bleeding then either so hope it stays the same this time and it will disappear with time.

Thank you for all your comments. Very reassuring. Will ring erpu to see if they want to see me. Wouldn't be surprised if just said wait til the 12 wk scan. Thanks again

Not feeling very positive today. Woke up for having some cramps last night and still have dull ache in the right side. Does anyone know what happens if the blood doesnt reduce? Or if it just keeps getting bigger? I know its good that there arent many stories out there that didnt end well but would like to know what happened with those. Is the only threat to baby if i start to bleed or can something else happen? Spoke to epru and mw was quite dismissive despite of the fact that i only had a mmc in dec (have 2 dc already tho) she said as long as i dont bleed or in a lot of pain, she doesnt care and even then 1 in 5 women bleed in pregnancy and they will end up fine. Hmm

Try to stay positive. Bleeding around the sac (subchorionic haematoma) is very common. I had a bleed at 6 weeks and was found to have a haemorrhage next to the sac. Had another bleed at 10 weeks - they couldn't see any obvious source of bleeding this time. I'm now 23 weeks and all seems to be going ok. I've had 3 MCs so know how stressful this can be.

Are you around 7 weeks now OP? That is a time of cramps and aches. I would take not bleeding as a good sign for now and try to feel positive (easier said than done). when will you next have a scan?

Thanks both yes im almost 7 wks. I have another private scan booked for the 8 th of april. Havent got my booking app as havent called gp yet. Thought it would b bad luck. Will get no help from them anyway unless i bleed. Keep thinking no bleeding is good but then i had no bleeding during my mmc. Im wondering if im prone to this hematoma as was spotted during my last scans while going through mc but baby just wasnt developing so not sure if the 2 problems were connected...
