bio oil question

I tried one of the free samples of Bio-Oil from the Emmas Diary pack and found it stopped my bump from feeling itchy (it has been occasionally itching for a few weeks now) and it hasn't itched at all today.

I don't have stretch marks (yet!) but haven't had them in the past and my mum didn't get many at all. Does that mean anything? I had read something about genetics playing a part.

If it stops my bump itching and can help with stretchmarks I consider it a bit of a double win. But it's a bit expensive and I was looking for a cheaper place to buy it, Amazon has the 200ml bottle for £10, how long could I reasonably expect 200ml to last?

a little goes a long, long way with bio oil. It is very rich. I use a bit on my face and bump twice a day. Think the amount of serum you would use for hair really. I think the 200ml bottle will last you ages and ages!

Hi - I've just started on my 4th 200ml bottle and I'm 37+4. I apply very liberally twice a day. Amazon is by far the cheapest place to buy it...

Poundland/ 99p Stores do there own version of it & its really good - though I'm not using it for a bump, but general skin care, they also do a lovely cocoa oil, which I now prefer, both around £1. :)

When I did have a bump, I started with Bio Oil, but after a recommendation from a therapist friend I moved onto Olive Oil, again it worked as well for itching, dryness & no stretch marks at all, though as you say, that could judt be genetic but there's no need to spend £10

I used a bottle and a quarter my last pregnancy. I used it for my KP on my arms before our wedding, and despite a strapless dress, the wedding photos show no red spotches! Grin I have also used it for oil clensing my face to sort out black heads, and I put a few drops in when I'm running the bath for a soak and it moisturises everwhere.

Thank you for the tip Kelly.

Bio oil is basically ordinary (mineral) baby oil with an unspecified amount of other stuff to make it smell nice and to make it possible to market it in the way it is.

I'm a heavy user and the big bottle that I bought in January is still going. I have one cluster of steetchmarks on my thigh from before I started using bio oil and none on bump at 35 weeks. Not certain it's because of the bio oil but I'm not going to stop now! :)

I used a bottle and a half throughout my pregnancy. I got a lot of stretch marks at about 36/37 weeks Hmm but after dd was born they were really faded, not that horrible purple red colour, just silvery. Now 14 months on, I hardly notice them on my tummy unless I look really close. Just got them on the underside of my bump too. I think if I hadn't used the bio-oil they would have been all over and really ugly, but I will never know really.

I use bio-oil for various things, although I didn't use it on either bump and got no stretchmarks.

Has helped fade cs scar though.

I don't know about other oil partic, I found the old tip of castor oil good for making eyebrows that have been over plucked grow back quicker and thicker a lifesaver before my wedding, but the only thing that rid of my horrid sun spots (like large freckles) on my fair skin was bio oil. I tried lots of other products too before this one. Smile
