...a once in a lifetime experience for me, which I never want to repeat again!

JollyYellowGiant Mon 18-Mar-13 21:54:45

With DC1: Wonderful, glowy, fun
This time: painful, tiring, far too long

And I'm only 17w pregnant!

HotCrossCatPuss Mon 18-Mar-13 22:10:59

Desperately longed for.

Stixswhichtwizzle Mon 18-Mar-13 22:31:15

The most amazing thing I ever experienced. After years of ttc, it was wonderful. The birth on the other hand...

GlitterySkulls Tue 19-Mar-13 01:45:07

a necessary evil if you want the wonderful end result.

LazyMachine Tue 19-Mar-13 01:57:51

<snuggles newborn>

Dolallytats Tue 19-Mar-13 07:09:11

.....taking way too long yet still feeling very unreal.

Hai1988 Tue 19-Mar-13 07:50:43

[Envy] @ lazymachine

Cavort Tue 19-Mar-13 09:04:37

waaaaay too long!

I can't believe millions of years of evolution has decided that this is the best way to produce a new human! We should be able to grow one in a greenhouse or something by now!

Maggie111 Tue 19-Mar-13 09:31:46

Absolutely wonderful.

And shit-your-pants-terrifying. Seriously - I'm having a mother fucking baby in a couple of weeks!!!!!!

Jojobump1986 Tue 19-Mar-13 09:34:21

According to my MN active threads list:

"Pregnancy is.....

Possibly the most ridiculous injury ever!!"

dinkystinky Tue 19-Mar-13 09:34:31

an unknown journey - sometimes awesome, sometimes terrifying, sometimes sickening - but the destination is well worth it.

DXBMermaid Tue 19-Mar-13 09:35:02

.... like a really loooooong hangover
.... very un-glamorous at times
.... lonely

But, it is also amazing and a very special experience and I can not wait to meet my little one!

OohShinyChocolateHollowBunnies Tue 19-Mar-13 09:38:25

Amazing, a miracle, scary and not what I expected...

But yes to the so bloody long! 40+5 and I just want to sleep on my tummy again!

gertrudestein Tue 19-Mar-13 10:13:36

Saundy that is exactly how I feel!

Saundy Tue 19-Mar-13 10:46:31

That's funny Gert cause yours is the once that had me nodding too, maternity clothes, bras, pregnancy in general = total budgeting fail!

mildred37 Tue 19-Mar-13 10:58:41

Looooooooong. Am 30+3 and so ready for our baby to arrive. I am seriously worried for my sanity when I'm on maternity leave....I get really depressed and fed up on days off, and I have no idea why sad I just want my baby boy now xxx

mildred37 Tue 19-Mar-13 11:00:07

31+3, not 30....

sweetiepie1979 Tue 19-Mar-13 18:47:38

A 9 month hangover that you can't take pain killers for

SourSweets Tue 19-Mar-13 19:49:00

Difficult. Exciting. Every body else's business (apparently).

atrcts Wed 20-Mar-13 19:29:05

A very special secretive journey that only YOU can fully experience - in one sense seemingly lasting forever and in another sense over in a flash, with no two "journey's" being the same.

StuckOnARollercoaster Wed 20-Mar-13 19:38:03

Love this thread and I've found myself nodding and smiling lots but have got a bit teary eyed at lazymachines post... Enjoy your newborn snuggles... I can't wait for mine!

atrcts Wed 20-Mar-13 20:21:55

Haha - not secretive in that it's not obvious, as "everyone knows what you've been up to"!!!!! But secretive as in the little kicks and wriggles that are hidden away deep inside...

ButteryJam Wed 20-Mar-13 21:16:39

... different for everyone, but for me it has been a huge massive challenge

HavingALittleFaithBaby Wed 20-Mar-13 21:36:43

I thought the getting pregnant was the hard part well it was excuse for everyone to weigh in on how to live your life/man handle you/ask you personal questions. I even got an Oh, an Olympic baby eh?! comment. Ok, yes, it is but still...hmm

LadyMetroland Wed 20-Mar-13 21:42:48

So much harder than having a newborn!

Even having had c-sections both times I still felt infinitely better a week or so after the birth than I did when I was 36wks plus pregnant with toddler to look after.
