bleed outside the sac

I had some bleeding this weeks and after 2 scans both times they have told me I have a bleed outside the sac and also blood in the pouch of douglas. I am 7 weeks today and on both scans the heart beat was detected and in the 24 hours between the scans it had grown 1mm, they said it was all looking good. I just wondered if anyone else had had this and had a good outcome as I have a history of m\c and am really scared. I have a follow up scan Wednesday and don't seem to get past 8 weeks so am really nervous about it. Thanks in advance for your help

I had this, and have two other friends who did too. Like you, mine was picked up because of an early bleed. In the case of me and both my friends, we went on to deliver healthy, full term babies. All the best - I vividly remember how stressful it was.

I had this at 12 weeks. Heavy/gushing bleeding along with painful cramps.

I was so, so sure that I'd had a mc. The next day I had a scan and there was DD2 jumping around and waving. It was the best feeling of my life!

I asked why this happens and I was told that they don't know.

DD2 is 10.5 months now, she's still jumping around and waving! Grin

That's great news I have googled it so much and got nowhere at the scan they said it wouldn't cause m/c but my doctor sounded shocked when I told him and even more shocked when I said we saw the h/b which made me quite concerned so I thought I would see if anyone else had had it before xx

I had this at 8 weeks and went to A&E as i had gushing bleeding. They were so convinced it was a miscarriage, they wouldn't book me a scan and sent me home telling me to expect the worst.

I went for a private scan the same day as i was going out of my mind with worry. Had scan, all was fine and like fluffy said it was the best feeling ever.

On the screen we could see the baby and just a massive patch underneath the sac which was the bleed. I was advised to take it easy for a few days to see what happened and to expect more bleeding as the blood had to come out.

I rested and had a few more days of bleeding then it stopped as suddenly as it started. No one could explain what it was or why it had happened, DD was born healthy 7 months later.

Good luck - I know how worrying things like this can be. Take it easy for the next few days and fingers crossed all goes ok at your next scan.

I bled for a couple of weeks from about 7 weeks pregnant. I had 2 scans - 1 when the bleeding started and the 2nd a week later. Neither scan picked up where I was bleeding from or why, but everything else looked fine and DS2 is now 2.

I'd had a miscarriage a few months earlier and the bleeding/cramping etc felt exactly the same but there was no heart beat when I was scanned.

There are no guarantees and nothing will stop you worrying but the fact that your foetus has a heart beat and is growing are good signs. Hope that all goes well for you!

I had a haematoma (blood clot) underneath the gestational sac, it was picked up on a scan at 7 weeks after I started bleeding. It continued to cause blood loss for several weeks, bad enough that I was told I'd started to miscarry. My booking in appointment was cancelled and I was sent home to let nature take its course. However a follow up scan a week later showed a healthy little baby with a strong heartbeat. I'm now 27+5 and baby continues to grow well (is in fact headbutting me in the ribs as I type)

I hope you'll be OK, I think these type of clots can raise your risk of miscarriage but hopefully my story and those of the other posters will reassure you a bit. Good luck.

I feel so much better after reading your experiances your right I will still worry till I know everything is ok I am sure by looking at scan pics that my bleed is above the sac not below (don't know if that makes a difference) I just hope it is all ok! X

I just wanted to offer extra reassurance. I had a chorionic haematoma with bleeding from 6 weeks to 12 weeks including 2 big gushes of bright red blood. First time was sent home from A&e and told to wait and see. Was referred to the epu and all was fine. I am now 25 weeks and haven't bled since 12 weeks (touch wood!). Bleeding is pretty common and I think generally not a huge problem although I know it feels scary at the time. Mine was about 15mms I think. If the bleed is outside the sac and below the baby I'm sure you'll be fine. Hope this reassures you. On the plus side you should get lots of scans which I found very good for calming first time nerves. Good luck!

Sorry - cross post. I think even if the bleed is above the sac it's usually ok. A clot 'about the size of a grape' doesn't sound that bit to me. My doctors were pretty relaxed about it all. I'm afraid I don't know what the Pouch of Douglas is. Stay away from google though. It will just stress you out. I learnt the hard way. Google is not your friend!

Lol I have found google very nasty the pouch of Douglas is a funny little area that does nothing really it said about it on my scan report and I had to ask what it was. I am trying to stay calm just really horrid not knowing if or when the bleed will start again bit worried about going out as it has been a sort of gush the first two times only time will tell I suppose thank you for your stories it has really helped x
