Husband cooking with vermouth :/

Probably over thinking this as usual but husband is preparing a tagine for dinner, which looks/smells lovely. But he's splashed a load of vermouth in there. I've been avoiding all alcohol in pregnancy and I'm really debating whether to eat it or not. I'm 13 weeks.

He said the alcohol will cook off but I know that's not true, though some does cook off. It will be simmering, covered, in the oven for about 90 minutes.

Also, doesn't vermouth contain wormwood? Isn't that a bad thing?

Sorry, am suffering bad anxiety so excuse me if I'm being ridiculous

in the nicest possible way I think you are being silly and over thinking it (but for all the right reasons). There won't be that much vermouth in it certainly not enough to cause any harm at all to your baby.

Enjoy your dinner... it sounds lovely.

You will be absolutely fine. The alcohol will cook off. And even if the is wormwood in it, and wormwood is harmful, the amounts will be minuscule.

I craved risotto in both my pregnancies, and dp made it for me at last twice a week from -about 6 weeks to term. Both babies fine and healthy and now 12 and 17. I also had a glass of wine every Friday night. Oh, how I looked forward to that. So enjoy your delicious dinner.

I'm so angry with myself. I have bad OCD and once I get an idea in my head I just can't get past it and can't rationalise it at all.

I'm not surprised DH is angry with me too :(

Wormwood is in absinthe, I'd have to check but really don't think it's in vermouth.

You're right that it won't all evaporate but the quantity will be very small. Remind him not to do it again.

Don't be angry, its normal to worry about stuff like that, You asked advice, you got an answer now go and give DH a big hug tell him dinner smells lovely and you can't wait to tuck in.

I've been having white wine potatoes, beef in red wine, etc. The alcohol cooks off. It's fine. Enjoy your dinner.

No wormwood in Vermouth. As others have said any alcohol will cook off in 90 mins. It's easy to get fixated on small things like this because pregnancy can be a scary time but you really don't need to worry about this. Hope you enjoy it!
