Antenatal classes abroad

Does anyone know of any organisations that run antenatal classes in Canada? I'm looking for something similar to the ones run by the NCT in the UK. Not just for the content but also as a chance to meet others expecting around the same time.
Thanks!

No, but there's a Living Overseas board on here where you will probably get more people who know :)

Where are you located? Hospitals in Canada usually offer pretty extensive prenatal/baby care courses - more like NCT than NHS classes. Also there are usually not for profit and private organisations that offer them too - I'd just google prenatal classes and your city and see what comes up. Or if you are under the care of a midwife I'd just call the practice and ask what they recommend.

Hi Jergens!
I had DS in Vancouver eight weeks ago. I did not look for prenatal classes as he is No 6. There are several classes on offer at the various Health Centres; the Community nurses who will follow your sister up postnatally come out of these HCs. There is a lot of emphasis on 'community' and she will probably be placed in a group with other parents-to-be with similar due dates, so friendships are formed. Most classes offered by BC Women's Hospital do cost money, but are pretty comprehensive. The only course I did was a 'Big Brother/Sister' one with my last pregnancy. It was geared towards siblings and what to expect when Mum went into hospital, so they did a tour of the labour and delivery area, had a play with the controls on an electric bed and put nappies on a teddy. They even touched on Baby Blues and they all received a certificate at the graduation ceremony at the end! I am on Mat Leave, so pls tell your sis to get in touch if she has any other questions!
