Pregnancy

Can pregnancy symptoms differ over two or more pregnancies?

Am not currently pregnant, but about to start TTC for DC2. This is just idle curiosity...

My last pregnancy had no symptoms except for larger boobs. I didn't feel nauseous once. I'm just wondering what the likelihood of a similarly easy ride is next time?

I've had four pregnancies, each one was different.

First pregnancy not a single symptom or sickness, wouldn't have known I was pregnant if not for the bump which was tiny.
I'm now 6 weeks with second, albeit only 6 weeks, I feel tired, flu like, back ache, a bit sick, generally rotten.

Oh dear, that's not what I wanted to hear!

Hope you feel better soon, C0smos.

Last pregancy I was nauseous a couple of times. This time I felt so sick that I couldn't sleep.

The midwife said that sometimes sickness gets worse with subsequent pregnancies.

Sorry Juanca but I have the same experience as C0smos

Not a single sympton with DD, I did develop a haribo tangfastics habit but tbh I do love them all the time!
Currently 11+5 with #2 and have been a wreck since 3 weeks. There's about three hours a day when I don't feel sick, boobs are agony, daily nosebleeds and now the dizziness has kicked in. I'm knackered all the time but of course struggle to sleep and have trouble keeping 2.2 DD entertained, a walk to the park means a nap for both of us at the moment!

That's interesting Jolly.

Oh no Rugbugs you poor bugger! Here's hoping everything calms down in the next trimester. Have never heard of getting nosebleeds before, is that something to do with blood pressure?

Ohhh, I have a haribo habit too. I've managed to limit it to two packs so far, but that's been very very difficult.

First pregnancy I had bad pelvic pain in the last trimester and found it hard to walk as baby was so low. This pregnancy, no pelvic pain but it was replaced by horrible heartburn. Not sure which I'd rather have tbh!

Yup. Very different. Dc1&2 were relatively straight forward, minor ms at start, acid indigestion at very end, calm in the middle.
Currently expecting dc3, sick as a dog, exhausted, sore, and I'm only half way through.

My pregnancies have all been identical (daily puking until about 36 weeks, very low blood pressure) but also different, indigestion with two, different cravings and different things that made nausea worse. The only one that was different was the one I lost.

My sister in law's have all been different but the symptoms have got less and less with each on (she has four too).

All my 3 have been different. Ds1 was relativly symptom free, except some extra weeing and dizzy spells. Ds2 a lot worse. Now dc3 felt terrible xx

Mine were broadly similar but had differing levels of (mild) ms each time. But I had no major health issues in any of them apart from anaemia with ds2.

The main difference for me was probably that ds2 was quite a bit bigger than the other two and so I was much bigger and more uncomfortable. But nothing to write home about, I realise I had a very easy ride compared to some.

With ds3 I didn't realise I was pg until 8 weeks as I had no symptoms whatsoever!

Each of my 3 pregnancies has been completely different. DS1 - pretty symptom free, massive weight gain, foot/hand swelling from 32 weeks, not much baby movement except a lot of hiccups; DS2 - quite symptom free except quite bad pelvic pain from 18 weeks, fairly low weight gain (compared with DS1); DS3 (currently 28+5) - dates completely out at start, massive bleed at 16 weeks, pelvic pain only from 26 weeks, insanely active baby (but no hiccuping), weight gain looking on course with DS1 at the moment :-) Oh and massive boobs!

I had some similarities, some differences.
DS1 - pretty easy, very occasional nausea, anti-craving for chocolate for first trimester, acid reflux in the last 12w controlled with diet and vanilla icecream, extreme hip pain in bed in the last trimester, no SPD, gained textbook 11kg (24lb) over whole pg.
DS2 - more nausea, no actual sickness, anti-craving for chocolate for first trimester, acid reflux started as soon as the nausea stopped and required OTC medication, some hip pain but not as bad, DID get SPD, also had polyhydramnios, unstable lie, swollen ankles (no reason found), gained 13kg (all the extra fluid, I guess!)

I needed inducing for both, but with DS1 it was because he was 2w overdue and only needed pessaries; with DS2 I needed ECV (him manually turned), ARM (manual rupture of membranes to hold him in place after turning) and syntocinon drip to encourage contractions to keep him pressed against the cervix to get it to open. What fun! Not. But all ok in the end - both delivered vaginally, no real problems after.
