I would like some reassurance if possible.. I am a long time lurker but 1st time poster so please be gentle with me. I am 36 weeks pregnant and over the last 2 or 3 days the regular kicks and punches I was getting have turned into rolls, squirms and thuds.

I rang delivery on friday who asked me to monitor and count for 2 hours in which time I had around 20 movements. They suggested going to a drop in clinic to have a listen in, which I did and the midwife was lovely and said at this stage this is normal as the baby has less room for dramatic movements but as long as I am feeling the baby move at least 10 times in 24 hours that is the main thing. The babys heartbeat was good and strong and she let me listen for a good few minutes.

I have also got my official 36 week appt with my usual midwife tomorrow where I will ask again just to make sure and put my mind at rest (if thats possible!)

I just wondered if anyone else had experienced this, I am worrying as this is a very precious pregnancy and baby after 2 early miscarriages last year.

Thanks everyone

Exactly how I was when having DS, towards the end of my pregnancy - I just presumed it was due to lack of space so although I still got movements just as frequently they were definitely more wriggly than pronounced kicks. He's now nearly 2 and perfect :) good luck for the rest of your pregnancy and birth Thanks

I'm 33weeks andvi can honestly the movement is less than a few weeks ago,but they really do have less room to move, I just feel body parts sticking out now, like his bottom sticking out the side of my bump, i think along as baby is moving and you've no bleeding or abnormal pain all is good :)

Same here too - movements less kicky and dramatic, more squirmy and slidey!

Wriggles, rolls, flips all count as movements, it's not just kicks. Hiccups don't count. When my baby has its feet in my ribs, it's hard for her to kick because there isn't room.

It's the activity of the baby which is important rather than the actual kicks. I still get the occasional hefty boot in the ribs but mostly now I get elbows knees and feet poking out the side then retreating back in again. As long as the baby is active, that's the main thjng
