Someone please put my mind at rest! Im 26 weeks and havent got much of a bump at all. Midwives are not concerned but doctor has booked me in for extra scans?! Im 5'7 and very slim. Am I just being silly or is anyone else in the same boat? [Sad]

I am 5 foot 7 and slim too, and when I was 26 weeks pg I was still working and hadn't actually told them I was pg (long story....).

I had a small bump which I had to disguise, and couldn't do up my waistbands, but no-one actually noticed.

So don't worry (assuming you've had regular antenatal checks), everyone is different, and a neat bump is a blessing!

Hi, I'm 25 weeks, not very big either.
I haven't put weight on anywhere else either, I think my waist is about 9" bigger. I've only seen a midwife twice in total.

Try not to worry xxxx

Good luck.

I measured small for dates, but it was something the midwife picked up, not the doctors. Isn't it 1cm for every week, from the pubic bone up to the top of the uterus?

When I was scanned, the baby was fine and I was small because I was low on fluid. (Way off the bottom of the chart apparently). I was given an extra scan or two and in the last 8 weeks was slapped on a heartbeat monitor to keep an eye on things every few days.

However, apart from not having much waters to go in labour, everything was fine. My baby came 4 weeks early, naturally and was in tip top health, and not too small considering she was early.
And my 2nd baby came 4 weeks early too, with normal amount of waters, so I doubt that was the cause of the early delivery - I can't just cook 'em full term. Grin

I'm 5ft7" and I was barely showing at 26 weeks either and have been booked in for growth scans. Id barely put any weight on by then either - only a couple of lbs. I'm 35 weeks now and still not very big at all but my scan last week showed baby was at 5lbs which they said was fine! And I've nearly put on a stone which they also seemed to find fine. My mum and cousin didnt seem to show at all, most people didnt realise they had been pregnant and then wondered whos baby had suddenly appeared! Apparently if you're slim anyway you don't always show very much so try not to worry, especially if the midwives aren't! :) good luck with the rest of the pregnancy! x

I'm 5'9 and had hardly any bump with my first until 30+ weeks.

My friend who is a midwife said taller ladies have a longer abdomen so more room to grow up rather than out. No idea.if true or not!

With my second I was a lot bigger a lot quicker.

I am 5'8 and size 10 and was like this with both babies- still in normal clothes until 28 weeks first time, and didn't buy any maternity clothes! Babies weighed 7'15 and 8'1 so really don't worry! Just think you will have less to lose after!

My bump was non-existent at 26 weeks, and only really started to show at 32 weeks.
No growth problems and DD was born a really healthy weight Smile

I was 9st with DS1. Looked small all the way through but he measured to dates. I'm 5ft2 btw. I ended up putting 4st on but still had a small bump and a fat arse . He was born 8lb5.

DS2 I was 14st Blush and didn't put a single lb on during pregnancy. I had the same smallish bump as I did first time round. I measured small (to me, I'm a midwife, I measured myself) the whole way through this time, but my community midwives thought I measured fine until I pointed out a few things. Anyway. I had a couple of growth scans which showed a smaller baby but not too small. He came out at 6lb12 which is normal. But at almost 3 weeks over due, this put him on the 2nd centile, so he was small for dates.

What I'm saying is, bump is no predictor of baby size! We all carry differently! I had small bumps both times, didn't need maternity clothes particularly, but had babies of 2 different sizes.

If the measurements are fine, then this is what you should go by.

Many women don't show much, or have smaller bumps. Both of my bumps kind of popped out properly at 36 weeks, but they still looked small in comparrison to others. I just didnt look noticeably pregnant til 36 weeks. Even though I bloody felt it!

I'm 5.2 lost just under a stone whilst pregnant, had barely any bump for the whole pregnancy and then gave birth to my DD who weighed 8.6lbs. The midwives told me not to worry during my pregnancy about my lack of bump. Looks like they were right
