Help!!!!!! Is this labour?

For the last 1.5 hours I've been getting pains in my back and tightenings in my bump. It comes in waves reaches a peak then receeds. I've times them and there anything between 5-10 mins apart and last 45-60 sec. Could thus be labour or is it just back ache. I've not lost my mucous plug or had a show that I'm aware of? Any advice would be greatly recieved?

How far along are you? Are the pains in your bump? Have you had Braxton Hicks yet in this pregnancy? I had ALOT when I was preg and they were sometimes painful but it definitely wasn't labour IYSWIM

I LOVE a live labour thread I do! :)

I haven't had a show for any of my labours so that doesn't mean anything really. It does sound like this could be the start of it.

I know you say between 5 and 10 minutes but is the time between them reducing or is it quite erratic?

Good luck and hope you see your baby soon.
My experiences was that labour was really painful, couldn't talk during contractions but could in between. Had what you describe day before with last preg, midwife informed me I had an irritable uterus. However many on threads here have what you are describing, then a baby. Not much help sorry!
Good luck...and keep breathing!

I'm 38+1, I called the hospital, they said it sounds like labour! Eeek! They advised paracetamol and TENS and to call back when pains closer together. Now pains coming between 4-7 mins apart. TENS helping at the peak. I really hope this is it. Can't wait to meet our baby! I've left DH in bed for the mo, wish I'd got some sleep before this started but first pains were just as I got into bed!

Good luck. You are far nicer than me. I woke DH up and told him he had to be awake and suffer every minute that I was haha.

Are you all packed and ready to go?

How exciting for you Grin good luck.

Straightening your hair for the post birth pics Grin is this your first baby?

Is the tens working for you?

Report
beckslovestimmy · 10/01/2013 02:34

Yep first baby. TENS is helping as most of the pain is on my lower back, the same place I get period pains. I just assumed it would be in my bump. I guess this is still the early stages though, only gonna get worse' Grin

straightened hair! love it!

good luck to you.

you could try a warm bath if your waters haven't gone :)

How are you op?

If you can drink some water I was told this by my doula that it helps labour along

If the pain is in your back and a bit erratic I would spend time on all fours circling your hips. Might help the baby get in a good position for labour (sounds like he/she might be back to back at the moment - not disastrous but not the easiest position either). I might be too late of course!

Hope all goes really well for you.

Hi everyone, well definately in labour, only 3 cm but they can stretch it to 5cm. Being kept in due to raised BP. My hair is still straight at the mo. Just waiting for waters to break. If they don't, they will break them in a few hours. I'm very excited now, and my DH is being great.
