Pregnancy

8 weeks but scan measuring just nearly 6?!?

Hi, I'm just after any advice or any stories. I had a miscarriage in September and was told it was due to baby not developing. I found out I was expecting again at the end of November - I have worked it back to my last period and that would mean I was 8 weeks. I went for a private scan lastnight and lady said that she can see yolk sac and a 5.6mm fetal pole... She stated it may just be too early or missed miscarriage, obbviously having gone through a miscarriage not so long ago I am left fearing the worse. I'm just wondering whether any one has any similar stories to share?! Any advice or help too?! X

As far as I know, you conceive roughly a couple of weeks after your lmp, so the measurements could be spot on.

I had a mm in july/August and im now 14 weeks, also still fearing the worst so I know how you feel, its like a slow torture!!

It could also be that you ov'd later, this would push your dates back. When are they scanning you again? They would normally after 1 or 2 weeks to see how the pregnancy has progressed.

I just don't know what to think... :( they are hoping to scan me again in 10 days - but my that seems an awful long time from now. I'm hoping that because it was my first period since the miscarriage my days were everywhere. Fingerd crossed!!! 14 weeks eh foxy.... That's near enough safe ground, start thinking positive xxx

My dates were all over the place as well, I don't know how I could have conceived when I did but I guess my cycle was all over the place.
I can't start thinking positive just yet, I just try and keep busy which is quite easy at this time of year, Oh and I thought I was further on than I was as well.
I'll have my fingers and toes crossed for you x

Hi I got an early scan for pain and a tiny bit of blood streaked mucus thought I would be 7 weeks but was told not even 6 weeks yet, I got scanned a week later and baby was exactly 7 weeks by the time I got to 12 week scan I had caught up and was only 1 day behind what I thought. I'm 23 weeks today and still anxious so I don't think that ever leaves you

Thank you for your info everyone!! I hope your pregnancies progress nicely. Just a question, by the scan you can't really resemble a baby just a shape like a bean, is this normal!??? :) x

hi bobsimum

I am kinda in the same situation as you, i knew i was pregnant but didn't get a bfp until i was 4 weeks late.

I presumed i was one of these people who dont get a bfp until 8 weeks or something, so i went for an early scan as i have also had a mmc.

I went expecting them to say 8/10 something like that but they said 6/7 weeks, which would work out with when i got the bfp. but was told there was a hearbeat and a fetal pole, so was very happy with that.

not really a bean shape either just a white line.

I just got a letter to say another scan would be on the 3rd of jan and am terrified incase anything has gone wrong.

I have constant nausea from about 3pm and do get cramps from time to time, which i never had with the last pregnancy so am taking this as good signs.

wishing you luck

Hi yellow!!! I know exactly how you feel, we should be looking forward to scans not dreading them. The nausea is a good thing surely?!? I too get it all day long - I didn't get it with the last pregnancy at all just had back pain. I am booked in for another scan now on the 30th Dec. You will have to let me know how you get on, fingers crossed x

Totally agree, should be exciting not worry.

But I don't think I will chill out until after 20 weeks, even then will be worrying all the time.

Will update. Grin

My scan at 8 weeks put me 1 and half weeks behind and I was left fearing the worse but the midwife assured me it is 'normal' and sure enough at the next scan 2 weeks later I had cought up a week xxx

Hi everyone - I did say I would update so here goes! Went for the scan on the 30th and unfortunately baby has got smaller so it seems to be a mmc again :( got EPU tomorrow morning for a confirmation but hope is lost. Hope all your pregnancies progress differently to mine.... Good Luck, and fingers crossed for everyone x

I'm really sorry to hear that bobsimum. Having a MC at all is terrible but having to cope with 2 in a row is devastating. I had 2 MMC before this PG. The first I got to 8.5 weeks with baby only getting to 6. Second time I got to nearly 11 weeks to find out baby had only got to 6 again. I am now 34 weeks PG. I know there is little anyone can say to make you feel any better right now just take care of yourself, treat yourself to something nice and give yourself some time to grieve before starting again. The chances are still very much in your favour that you will go on to have a healthy PG again so don't loose hope although no doubt it will be a very anxious one until you get to the later stages. My EPU did offer me regular scans throughout this PG which did really help so definitely enquire about that.
