Am? If I am why don't I feel like I am?

Hi ladies
This is my first post on here, I wonder if someone can help. I came off the pill about 2 months ago and didn't start trying to conceive until after I got my first period which was 4th nov. we assumed it would take a good few months.
I was a week late last weekend so took a preg test to just put it out of my mind and it was positive. I then did another one (a digital clear blue one this time!) and that was also positive. I just couldn't believe that it would happen the first month of trying. Anyway I went to the dr and I wasn't tested at all they just took my word for it and said they'd contact me for a scan. That isn't going to be for ages as she said I am 6wks tomorrow and I have had zero symptoms. None. Not one. I feel exactly normal.
I am now fretting as we are planning in telling my parents on Xmas day (they would guess anyone with me not drinking or smoking).
What if I'm not really pregnant? What if both tests were wrong? I'm so stressed about it. I feel as if I've made it up.
I am almost hoping to get a bit sick soon so I feel something/anything. Please someone help me :-( this is stressing me out not knowing what to think.

Congratulations :)

Both tests aren't wrong, you cannot get a false positive as the sticks have to react with something specific in your urine to get a line.

I'm just coming up 6 weeks and sometimes i feel fine and not at all different and other times VERY pregnant, everyone is different, everyone gets different symptoms and different degrees of symptoms.

If you really are very very anxious then consider paying for a private scan to reassure you :)

Congratulations! I'm 9 weeks and didn't feel pregnant untill last week when I couldn't keep anything down for a few days, and that's stopped now as I feel completely normal again, so much so that I bought a test from shopping thismorning haha, needless to say it was positive lol. Enjoy your sick-free weeks x

Thank you all I think this is just what I needed. It's so hard with no one else knowing and therefore not being able to talk about it.
Hubby is being so good and trying to reassure me that the tests wouldn't be wrong but I'm one step away from takin a preg test every day!
I almost feel like calling the dr and asking for a blood test. Do you think they would do that?
Thank you for the tip about an early scan I definitely think we may look into that.
Xx
Ps the thread should have been called "am I?" Not just am?

Don't worry! Although that's probably one of the things you'll end up doing a fair few times in next few months- based on personal experience!
I had barely any symptoms on DS- about 3 evenings of slight nausea a few months in and being sick once ( although that was morning of 12 wk scan and I think I was just nervous).
This time around I'm nearly 13 wks and have been sick - a lot!- and feel nauseous about 80% of time.
We're all different and it would appear that even in the same woman each pregnancy is very different!
Don't think that you're hormones are any less effective due to lack of symptoms- just be happy and confident that your body's handling the surge differently ( better) than mine for example!
Take care and try to enjoy as much of it as you can! Smile

I didn't find out I was pregnant until I was 10 weeks because I didn't have any symptoms at all until around 8 weeks and then just thought it was flu. It's true that you can't get a false positive, only a false negative. Still didn't stop me not believing until I had a scan. I cried when I saw the baby and knew it really was true. Having seen him for myself and having a picture to prove it, didn't stop me thinking it wasn't true as the second scan approached. He was still there. Now I find I don't believe it whenever he stops moving. :o

Congratulations and believe it.

Aw OP you sound exactly like me! When I went to the doctor I assumed they would take a urine sample. Nope just referee me straight to midwife, who also ddnt do a urine sample. I had to wait 6 weeks for my scan and did about 15 pregnancy tests just to make sure. I had no symptoms just felt really tired. I convinced myself I wasn't pregnant. I felt like i made it up to haha you sound just like me!! The night before my scan I was so nervous, I thought they were going to tell me there was no baby! But yep definatly pregnant and it was a beautiful moment seeing my child on the screen xx

Stop worrying, you are pregnant. Even if you don't feel like it! If possible like another poster Sao try to get an early scan.

Entirely normal to have no symptoms at all and so early on. Don't fret! You never know, you may wake up tomorrow with all the symptoms under the sun! I don't think I got any til around 9 weeks. I became RAVENOUS all the time for about 4 weeks and then it settled.

Good luck. I hope it's a lovely simple pregnancy Grin

Hi all. I am almost 5wks and the only symptoms I have had are putting on a ridiculous amount of weight and a lot of twinges! Oh and 2 positive pregnancy tests. It's really strange cos in my last pregnancy I was terribly sick even before I was late.
I too have occasionally found myself wishing for more symptoms, but then I think no way! I do not want to be sick!
