Nope - typical pregnancy insomnia I'm afraid! I am 36 weeks and just the same (with my DC3). Kindles are your friend!

Try a relaxation mp3? Works for me sometimes.

I'm getting about 5 hours sleep a night at the moment. It's bloody annoying. Going to try napping in the day today.

Welcome to the last weeks of pregnancy! No tips, just have to ride it out I'm afraid.

I found sleeping around weeks 38-39 very hard due to hip pain and general discomfort. Not sure if this is reassuring but my body seemed to adapt/get used to it and I slept very well for about a week from 39 -40. I was even lying in till 10am like a teenager! Most unlike me!

Now I am 40+4 I am struggling again due to my mind racing and feeling little crampy niggles that never seem to come to anything. But that's a whole other story!

Hope you get a break and some good sleep soon x

Yep! Wake every couple of hrs anyway to turn over as hips are excruciatingly painful and then at 3am for a wee. Often can't get back to sleep till 5am.
Sounds like it is a 38+ week normality.

Am 37 weeks and getting between 3 and 5 hours a night. During a check-up on Monday the midwife told me that it was a "good thing" to be used to sleep deprivation as if I was used to 8 hours a night then had a newborn waking me up all the time I would "go mad and kill myself". Great. Cheers.

Am also suffering from lack of sleep! 38 weeks and wake up repeatedly, some nights awake and have to get up for a 2 or 3 hours. End out either watching i-player or else having a bath. Would be fine if I could just doze during the day but I don't seem able to. It's whatever doesn't kill us makes us stronger isn't it????

I hate to share this with you ladies but it's only going to get worse. I was exactly the same in the last few weeks of pregnancy and naively kept declaring that I 'would get a better night's sleep with a newborn' thinking that even if it was a grabbed hour or two here and there at least I could get in a comfy position!

Oh how wrong I was, and how I long to have a 'pregnant' night's sleep haha!

In all seriousness though I think it does prepare you for sleep deprivation. And you can't store sleep so just make the most of being lazy while you can. It's all worth it though when you see your beautiful babies Grin

I know, Mayim (you're not THE Mayim Bialik are you?) as this is no 2. That's why I want to stock up on sleep now Hmm

Dublinmammy, that was a terrible thing for your mw to say!!! Hope she doesn't have to deal with any new mums with pnd! I'd hate to think what her advice would be!!! x

Haha no not the Mayim Bialik. Was watching an episode of Big Bang theory trying to think of a username.

I'm glad you're prepared for the lack of sleep with a newborn having done it before. I know everyone tells you how knackering it is but you never realise until you actually do it for yourself. My little darling has been asleep most of today - despite attempts by me to wake him up - so I know I'm in for it tonight Confused

I know too Mayim, this is my second so I know how it goes..... Wish I was being lazy during the day instead of running round after a 3 year old. Yes Melon thought it was a really bizarre thing for her to say!!
