Is there a "around due date and completely fed up waiting for signs of labour" thread?

I'm due tomorrow with DD2. I was utterly convinced I would either have had the baby or be in labour by now, but nothing so far. With DD1 I lost my mucus plug and started contractions at 39+4 and she arrived on her due date.

There's no chance this baby will be here tomorrow is there?

God I'm fed up with being pregnant!

Anyone else?

Yes I am due tomorrow too! Feeling very uncomfortable with SPD but no signs of anything happening any time soon. Was 40 + 5 with DS, looks like this one is going the same way...

Good luck Xmas Smile

40+2 today with DD2 and no signs of imminent labour whatsoever Sad Midwife tried to do a sweep on Thursday with no success. Was induced early with DD1, so no idea if I am likely to be very late or not!

40+1 today and no signs yet. I've only just got to the 'yes, I'm finally ready, you may appear now baby' stage. However I can see that a few more days of pretty constant braxton hicks and I'll swiftly be fed up with the whole thing.

40+1 today and not even a Braxton Hicks to speak of :( don't think I have had a single one in my whole pregnancy (it's DC1).

Getting fed up and uncomfy now. Also feel testy and hormonal and very annoyed by everything poor DH is doing. Like breathing.

Went out for a 35 minute walk earlier despite having horrible sore calf muscles (think the baby is so heavy now he is just causing my body to break down!!).

MW said she would attempt a sweep at my appointment on Tuesday so fingers crossed that has some effect. I am pretty much expecting her to say its impossible cos my cervix is fully closed and not favourable though :(

Feeling very much "glass half empty" at the moment!

What is everyone else doing on these last few days? I got some good novels out the library and have been working my way through them...figure it might the the last chance I get for 4 years to read something that's not "That's not my dragon"...!

It's driving me mad that people keep saying "do you want to do x/y/z next week/tomorrow/whatever?" and I keep saying no thinking I'll have had a baby, but so far have been to everything I've been invited to.

40+3 now and my midwife refused to do a sweep today as I'm not 41 weeks. I felt so petulant I almost stamped my foot at her!

im 41 weeks tomorrow on first baby. I feal like baby is still very high in my belly, although ive been told its 3/5's engaged. Very uncomfortable and totally over being pregnant :(
Sweep tomorrow hoping that will help, Has anyone had a sweep before?

Hi Amy yes I've had 2 now - I really felt it wasn't more than a smear, if anything better as no nasty metal bits. The mw has not been able to reach my cervix v well both times but that in its self tells you more about what stage you're at, and if it has begun to move and dilate she can try to get things moving more (which may be more uncomfortable but it's very quick) she may also be able to tell you more about how engaged baby is - she had to shift baby's head out of the way yesterday to try and reach my incredibly posterior cervix! But confirmed he's 1/5 engaged!

All the best for today

Now 40+5 and still nothing happening whatsoever Sad Due another sweep tomorrow, and scheduled for an induction next week if no progress by Monday. Am getting so fed up! Think DD1 does not believe she is actually going to have a sister.

First for me Clarella, so I'm in the dark as to procedures. I got the impression my midwife just couldn't be bothered as the consultant I saw afterwards was adamant I could have had a sweep from the midwife.

Ho hum, might try other methods today.

Clarella · 05/12/2012 09:02

Pragmatic the guidelines changed to offer first time mum's a sweep at 40+1 and again at 41 wks (I've asked for more but she said that's it according to 'guidelines'!)

Not sure how you can tackle that one but the consultant was right

I'm 40+2 now. Still no signs. Although I did wake at 4am feeling desperate for a poo (Blush) and kept trying but nothing. Then finally had to run to the loo at 6am. I was having loads of cramping but not like contractions. I feel like crap today so MIL has taken DD for the day. I was hoping it might have been the pre-labour "clear out" but I think it's just whatever bug DD has on Monday.

I see my mw tomorrow so I might ask for a sweep. I don't know what the procedure is here though. Last time I started contractions at 39+4, went into hospital at 39+5 for a check etc and was given a sweep then. It was very uncomfortable, but over quickly, so not too bad really.

Oh and I see the December thread still moves extremely quickly!

Has anyone tried sex? Worked for me- labour started 4 hours later. But all I've told since think it's a very.. alternative method.

We haven't had sex for over a week because I've been feeling so exhausted the last few days. I might just try and find a bit of energy tonight though... or even before MIL brings DD home... Xmas Wink

40+4 now... I went to the mw yesterday. She offered a sweep so gave it a go, but couldn't reach. I'm only 1cm dilated and my cervix is too long. The baby's head also isn't engaged at all yet. She said she expected that I would be at my post dates appointment on Wednesday (I'll be 41+2). Sad
