I went to the cinema Thursday, I got really uncomfortable (obviously) after a while, then I started getting what felt, I thought, like contractions. At first it was just a dull ache but then it cramped like a period and the whole of my belly became tight, it lasted for about a minute then stopped, then it happened again about 10-15 mins later and then a third time. But then completely stopped until friday morning it happened once then it was a dull ache and my belly is very tight later. Since then I have been very uncomfortable especially at night, I've been waking up with small stabbing pain in my lower abdomen and lady bits, then the cramp comes again, it hasn't stopped since Thursday.. My fiancé is really worried because when this happened before I ended up in hospital but the pain was worse. I'm trying to stay calm but its hard. I dont think its bh because I have been having them but they're nothing like this. Has this happened to anyone, I'm seeing my midwife today just would like some advice please.

No advice -just didn't want to leave you hanging here!

You are doing the right thing by going to see your midwife. Hope it all turns out well.

I am 36 weeks pg and suffering similar pain.

I've just put it down to BH's.

No advice, just wishing you luck with everything & hoping your MW is able to shed some light on this for you.

Thanks for your comments. Just got back home from the midwife. (Not very happy feel like having a bit of a rant but trying to calm down) she put it down to Brixton hicks for the sole reason that they are not regular so good news.

I'm really pleased to hear that your MW has been able to tell you it's BH, however, it seems that maybe something she said has left you feeling angry.

If you want to share, please do.

I may be way off but I have had incidences with my MW where I've felt patronised & have had to remind her I'm a grown woman...is this what's happened? As I say, I'm probably way off.

Not really what she said, because she barely said anything. More of what she did. She completely forgot about me for 1 thing, then didn't talk to me at all, she got the student midwife to do all the checks and all the talking. When it was time to check the heart beat the student midwife looked concerned and so did I as it was incredibly fast. The student midwife asked the midwife if it sounds normal to her and she just shrugged it off, the student midwife then said its in the 200 range (which is way off normal) and then the midwife said the machine glitches sometimes. So the midwife double checked the position and the height but refused to check the heart beat again. Then when I got home I checked the notes and it usually says fetal heart beat heard and regular, all it said however was that she heard it. Now I know that something wasn't right, but she wouldn't listen. Last time the heartbeat was that fast I was in hospital and they were thinking of delivering the baby.

I know nothing about this but from what you have written I think you should be going back to the hospital/midwife right now to get checked again properly. no point in taking any chances if heartbeat is that high it needs checking...

I thought about doing the same thing. I have a heart monitor at home, it doesn't tell you the beats thought which is kind of annoying. I listened 1st thing this morning and it was still fast (to me) then it suddenly dipped. I left it for a bit (about 10 minutes ) listened again and it seems normal, I haven't checked since though. I don't wanna go all the way to hospital and feel like a plum because everything's fine.

I think you should call the triage ward where you're going to be delivering your DC.

Just explain your concerns re; heartbeat/ heart-rate. They may be able to put your mind at rest or will advise you to go in to be checked.

As The community MW may well have missed just how concerned you were. I understand that as the women carrying this special cargo, we want everything to be looked into and explained thoroughly.

It'll take a few mins to call triage and then you'll know you where you go from there.

Good luck

I think I might do that. Just don't wanna feel stupid for worrying

As a good friend told me very early on in my pg. Don't ever feel daft about seeking specialist advice when it comes to your unborn baby.

At the very least, you'll get peace of mind which will bring down those stress levels and even just that is good for baby's wellbeing.

How are you doing OP?

How far along are you?

Why didn't you ask the midwife to check the heartbeat while you were there? Or say something like 'I thought 200 was fast, is everything ok?' I hope you've been back to have it checked or at least spoken to someone?

Hi guys, just an update. I rang hospital this morning and they told me because I tested again at home with my own monitor and it sounds ok to me that I shouldn't go in. However if I listen later and it changes then ring back. It's probably baby is just active and happy.

Noteaforme I'm now 36 weeks today and I did ask her and I got the same response she gave to the student
