Not feeling pregnant :(

I guess I am 8+6 at the moment and for the past few days I just haven't felt very 'different'. The pain in my boobs has decreased, I've never had morning sickness but even the nausea and wee cramps have disappeared and I'm not running to the loo all the time.

I have never been pregnant before and I'm terrified that when I go for my scan (don't have a date for it yet) that they will say the baby stopped growing at about 8 weeks. I just wish it felt more (I'm sure the people with terrible morning sickness would disagree but I would honestly be so relieved for some at the moment) :(

Is this normal?!

It is normal, don't worry unnecessarily - congrratulations. Hope it all goes well!

I had a significant symptom drop at around 9 weeks also during this preg (now 24wks & all well). Join an antenatal group on MN & you'll realise you're not alone :)

Thank you both - oh I am just worrying about everything, which is silly and needs to stop! I will definitely join an antenatal group tiddley, didn't know they existed - thanks for that :)

Forgetme Yes how odd, that we both posted opposite things at the same time. If you are really concerned I would speak to your doctor or midwife.
Have you had your booking in appointment yet?

Remember that every pregnancy is different, some women get really bad morning sickness (its gross) and some women dont get it at all, then there are the varying degrees of sickiness in between.

No, where I am we have booking and first scan at the same time, so had nothing except brief chat with GP. You're right of course about everyone being different - and like you I feel bad for not being more grateful (in my case for lack of horrible symptoms!) but can't help worrying really, even when I know it's counter-productive.
Giving the unit another week and then booking a private scan if I don't have a date, just to ease my mind, I think...

Yes I think if you are worrying then a private scan would help, but also pop to see your doctor.

I'm assuming your due in June? as you're just over a week a head of me. So join me on the June antenatal thread OR the brooking antenatal thread (the brookers are a bunch of super lovely women all at varying points in pregancy and are an invaluable resource for knowledge Smile

Forgetmenots It's perfectly normal. I went to my 12wk dating scan convinced they were going to say there was no baby and I'd made it up. I just had no symptoms whatsoever (except BFP and no periods!)

Hi, I have just signed up to ask exactly the same question, I think I am 9+5 and do not 'feel' pregnant, I have had no sickness at all, an odd occasion of nausea after eating but have been really tired and needing to wee a lot until a few days ago. I have my booking in appointment tomorrow. I am so worried that there will be nothing there at the scan (not booked yet) and how my Oh will take it as he is so excited.

With my first pregnancy I initially had morning sickness but all symptoms disappeared before 12 weeks and I felt so worried I wasn't actually pregnant at all.

That was 5 years ago and yes you guessed it I now have a lovely 5 year old. Try not to worry. And congratulations Thanks

Oh and a little word of warning. If your baby is anything like mine was, you won't feel them move until 23wks ish either and even then not very often! I got v fed up with people asking if she was moving yet!

I wouldn't worry too much- the only reason I knew I was pregnant was a lack of period!! No symptoms whatsoever. I'm due on Thursday.. Some would say I was lucky in the first trimester, but boy did I suffer in the third!!

I don't think I felt properly pregnant until baby started moving - only when I was 19 weeks (I'm 22 weeks today). Even having seen baby on scan, and even having the photos and waistline expanding... I just felt like I'd eaten too many cookies.

And then BAM - flutterings turning quickly into little jabs and kicks. And just two minutes ago had the weirdest sensation of a foot/arm being moved across my belly. WEIRD WEIRD WEIRD! But very reassuring ;)

I booked in a private scan for reassurance, but it may not help with the "feeling pregnant" thing... Don't worry though, it's all normal :)

Congrats on the pregnancy, also!

I don't feel very pregnant either, I suppose you find out massive, life changing news and then...nothing really happens or changes straight away and it's hard to comprehend. I suppose we will be looking back on this time of worry wistfully in a few weeks when we've got our heads hanging over a toilet night and day Grin

Hi,

I had exactly the same thing at almost exactly the same time in my pregnancy early last week (now 10 weeks exactly). Had felt shocking until just over 8 weeks, constantly sick really sore boobs then over the course of 3 or 4 days the symptoms gradually reduced until they'd basically disappeared, and they've not every really come back.

I seem to have transformed into the world's most paranoid person with this pregnancy (my 3rd so should know better) so went to the doctor and insisted that they refer me for a scan at the EPU (Early Pregnancy Unit) of my local hospital. Went the next day and everything was absolutely fine, though the consultant sonographer who I saw did say it's worth getting checked out if you're worried.

Take care and if you're worried go see your doctor and ask them to refer you for a scan.

Thanks everyone for your lovely replies, it really has helped to know that a) it seems normal b) i'm not mad and c) i'm not alone!

I still haven't got a letter about a midwife appointment or scan (and i'm nine weeks today) so I think next week I'm going to see about a private scan, hopefully for round about the 11 week mark. Thanks for all the good wishes too, they really are appreciated and i'm not normally this neurotic, honest
