Did you have symptoms before you tested?

Hello all,

Yesterday I got my BFP well, three BFPs!

I don't have any symptoms, unless if I think imagine really hard and then I might have a sight crampiness in the abdomen and heavy feeling boobs.

I only really did a test as I had some spotting a few days before my period was due and then my period didn't come, but I didn't expect it to be positive so I am feeling very shocked but happy!!

Did you experience symptoms before your BFP? If so, what were they, and if not, when and what were your earliest symptoms?

Thanks.

Needing to pee more than usual, extreme tiredness boobs expansion and sensitive, and a bout of night sickness the night before BFP followed by six more BFP (well that's why I tested 6 days before AF was due) oh and a lot more emotional/temperamental

Congrats on your BFP!!

Looking back I only had wretching (for no more than 2 mins) two mornings in a row - no sickness or nausea. Although I was on day 34 - my periods hadn't settled down since coming off the pill.
Although, when a friend suggested we book a camping/drinking weekend for 4 months time, it was enough to make me think (as we had been trying).

It wasn't until a week or so later that I started having nausea and slight cramping.

Looking back I did have symptoms, I just didn't add them all up! I'd had TERRIBLE backache and had been feeling exhausted. I didn't put 2 and 2 together though because the month we conceived we'd both had a terrible terrible flu. In all honesty the, um conception moment, was only because we both wanted to cheer the other up. It was also the only time that month we'd done it because we felt so horrible!!

Since then my favourite advice to people looking to conceive has been to get really high on Night Nurse and just go nuts. Grin

Congratulations on your BFPs.
I think for me the lack of period symptoms was more telling than the few symptoms I had signalling pregnancy. In the week before my period I want to eat everything in sight, bloat up and get really bad cramps and become quite irritable. None of this happened, instead I went off food (apart from cheesy beans), became very nauseous (unless I was eating cheesy beans) and my breasts got very heavy and painful.
Waited another week to be officially late and got a very faint BFP, then one every day for the next two weeks (bought a bumper pack of ebay cheapies!)

Hey, congratulations!

With dd1 I had leaking boobs, and this freaked me out. I did a test early and got a feint line. Waiting until my actual period due date, and tested with Clear Blue and go my bfp.

No symptoms with dd2, apart from being tired, but dd1 was waking at night.

Congratulations!!

For me:

DS (DC1) - no symptoms at all until about 6 weeks, then just a bit of nausea. Nothing else really until a bump started showing.

DD (DC2) - nausea and tiredness started even before my period was due. This turned out to be because it was going to turn into horrendous hyperemesis. Grim!!

Never had sore boobs or any real change in boobs either, before the actual births.

I had an unusual sensation very low down in my tummy which made me begin to wonder, I was also extremely tired and very very hungry early on. Otherwise no symptoms until 5 weeks, when horrendous sickness started.

Dc1 nausea and cramps, the penny dropped when I started feeling lightheaded. Af was a week late when I tested.

Dc2 no symptoms at all apart from being 3 days late.

Congratulations! I have a friend who didn't have symptoms for several weeks into her pregnancy. I did have symptoms, sore boobs (which I never get normally), lethargy and probably associated raging hunger. Midnight feasts anyone?

Here's my summary:

  • 1st preg - no symptoms at testing when AF due - extreme fatigue between 4-12 weeks, sore boobs 8-12 weeks.

2nd/3rd preg - both ended in m/c but again no symptoms at BFP - nauseated when hungry, never sick.

4th preg: no symptoms till 8ish weeks, sore boobs, nausea has come & gone.

Very grateful I've never had hyperemesis...

Congratulations! I was 5wks before I got my positive, but slight nausea, really bad cramps and an obsession with eating eggs all together prompted me to do the test. I went off eggs quite quickly after that!

I tested 3 days before my period was du as I felt terrible, it was either go to the docs coz I've got a virus or I am preggo. Horrendous back pain, achy boobs, nausea & my IBS had gone off the chart pretty much from day 1. Am convinced it's a girl Smile

Congratulations Smile

With DS, other than the missed periods, the only symptom I had until he started kicking was increased tiredness (which made me very paranoid until we got our 12 week scan).

Congraulations!!!

No, i had 1 period then missed another and thought oh shit(my words)

I did go off food, thought it might be because of stress and relationship breaking down...

I knew i was pregnant when i didnt like my runny egg with bacon. I cooked it and took one bite and chucked the rest....

I was 10+4 when i found out.

Congratulations! Grin

I think I had all the symptoms but was so wrapped up with other stuff going on and was convinced I couldn't get pregnant it didn't even enter my brain that I might be.

I had sore breasts, nauseous every morning, was actually throwing up, missed two periods, ravenously hungry, increased discharge, period type pains. The lot. I was forced to take a test when I was 8 weeks pregnant. I was so convinced I wasn't pregnant I refused to pay for the test myself.

Congratulations! No early symptoms here till about 6 weeks or so; before I tested I just felt like my period was going to come any minute such that I was entirely convinced that the test would be negative.

I had a sharp pain in my left hip during the week that I ovulated /conceived with 1st pregnancy (dd) but nothing else until 6 weeks then the nausea, heartburn and tiredness started. I only tested because a friend had just announced she was pregnant and it got me thinking! I tested on day AF due expecting not to be but came up with line almost instantly. With 2nd (mmc) I had heart burn before AF but didn't get line until 6 weeks and then only faint.
Congratulations on your BFP!!

I had symptoms before af was due:

My nipples changed (developed a white circle in the centre/ darker around the edge, which is still there).

A few days after ov, I had mild burning pains and cramps in my lower abdomen.

A couple of days before af was due, I was exhausted, even after a good nights sleep.

The day before af was due, I had a headache all day; I never get headaches. Also, my gums bled a little when brushing my teeth, which never normally happens.

I dreamt I was pg, I was stupendously clumsy and constantly hungry. Although it wasnt planned, I knew we hadnt exactly been careful so it was playing on my mind anyway so I tested a day or two before my AF and three positives later...

DH and I started to TTC #2, and about 2.5 weeks after AF I had a short 1-day bleed (implantation bleeding?). A couple of days later, I started feeling completely exhausted, cried at stupid things, could smell things really strongly and started having some really vivid dreams - all symptoms from pg #1. And then over the next couple of weeks I didn't get the normal post-ov discharge or any of the normal PMT grumpiness. I took a few tests, all -ve, until this morning I got a +ve roughly 3 weeks after I started noticing the symptoms Shock

Congratulations!

I started being sick at 3+1 and could only eat green olives. Took a test at 3+3 which was negative. Took another test at 3+4 (2 days before Af due) and a definite positive!

Hi Seconds, I was exactly the same. I was convinced I'd get my period at any moment. It just never came
