Pregnancy

how late in pg did you START to feel ill?

Im just wondering.... I had a horredndous pregnancy last time.... with HG throughout. I felt awful by 4.5 weeks, and was at the drs by 5 weeks, back to the dr 3 times at 6 weeks then hospitalised at 7 weeks, then battled dehydration to the end.....

i am now 5+4 and feel fine. I have not felt sick or anything at all (very tired etc but not ill)

so what im wondering is, could i be luckier this time and not experience the joys of HG (would be a nightmare with 13m DD).... or had anyone been fine at this point and then got poorly at a later date.

Im trying not to count my chickens yet as it is still very very early days, but im thinking / hoping that maybe i might be just normally sick this time, and at what point do people who just have normal sickness start to feel crap?

About 11 weeks the first time, and it stayed til DS was born. About 6-7 weeks this time and went about 18 weeks.

I start to feel rough at about 7/8 weeks. This time it went through to about 15/16 weeks. Constant nausea, no actual vomiting.

With DD I was sick from week 4-20. This time (10 weeks) I thought I'd got away with just nausea, but started having worse sickness about 7/8 weeks.

With ds I felt nauseas the whole way through gagged and heaved at most smells, slightly better with dd.

Dc3 due in december and I have very very mild nausea until 10wks, and have the odd bleugh day, not even once a week though.

With ds the only time I felt ill was in labour, so 40 weeks 4 days. With dd I felt sick, tired or just generally shit from 10 days post conception to the day I had her, when strangely I felt really good. This may have been sheer relief that it was finally about to be over though.
This time around I have felt shit from 4 weeks, and had maybe one or two good weeks so far, am now 24 weeks. Rest of the time I have been sick, tired, or had an infection of some sorts (going for a record on the most courses of antibiotics in a 40 week period)

Am 34+4 into an HG pregnancy (still throwing up!). I started to feel sick 48 hours after conception and was hospitalised for the first time for acute dehydration at five weeks. I did loads of reading about HG and one paper in particular did distinguish between the most severe/resistant cases (multiple hospitalisations, resistant to drugs, ended up on steroids/terminating etc) and more 'ordinary' bad HG in terms of date of onset. Serious vomiting before 6 weeks was the suggested distinction I think. So that would suggest that even if it starts for you just a week or two later than last time that might bode well and mean it doesn't get as bad this time.

It makes sense really because I suppose how early it starts must correlate to how low a level of pregnancy hormones you are reacting to. Given that I was feeling ill within 48 hours it's probably not surprising that I have thrown up throughout (i.e. even after the levels come down after the first trimester).

Fingers crossed for you!

thank you for all your helpful replies

kalidasa pleased you wrote what you wrote because that has been going through my mind, perhaps my hormones arnt has high, havent been doubling as quickly, and therefor it looks good

and hopefuly there is every chance that i may have more normal sickness or maybe not even so much

I threw up every day with DD too, final time was 1 hour before she popped out, but havent vomited since. I stopped feeling ill within hours of giving birth too, so hopefully it will be the same for you, it was like a switch off button and i became fine again

Oh snap

Last time I felt so drained from about week 4 to 14, couldn't bear the smell of coffee and could barely keep my ees open. Had a headache for 10 straight weeks too.

Now I am 6 weeks and feel absolutely fine. I wish I could enjoy it but it's so worrying :(

It started at 5 weeks for me, in hospital at 7 weeks, 15 weeks now and still throwing up. I really hope you are lucky this time.
