Need a wedding outfit for next weekend. HELP!

I am going to a wedding next weekend and will be 27 weeks pregnant, with a big bump.

I ordered two dresses from ASOS, but they are both going straight back as they look all nice and stylish in the pictures but make me look a complete frump. So now I am stuck. What on earth am I going to wear?

Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • I am 5'3" so need something fairly short otherwise I look incredibly dumpy. Maxi dresses drown me.

  • I like a sweetheart/v-neck neckline

  • I have olive skin, so darker colours suit me, rather than pastels.

Thank you so much in advance. Here's hoping...

have you tried tiffany rose maternity wear, some really nice occasion dresses on there. Smile

Is there a John Lewis you can get to easily? Seraphine have some nice dresses in at the moment. They are not ULTRA glam, but all the better as you could probably wear again for a Christmas party or something.

There is a dark royal blue one with a glitzy gathered bit under the bust to one side I like. Not too dear either:

Thanks both. No JL near me, sadly. Tiffany Rose looks lovely, but way over my budget. I've seen a tunic dress thing on next, fingers crossed that will do.

Economy I went to a wedding a few weeks ago at 23 weeks. I bought a plain dark purple shift type dress with a gathered bit for the bump. It was only £24 from new look maternity. Being plain it was quite flattering and I wore it with a hot pink fascinator and cardi. Be warned size wise as I have a decent sized bump but am still slim elsewhere, went up one size and it was just right so maybe think a couple of sizes up.

have you looked at New look on line ? Their dresses are cut really well and flatter any size bump ......they will emphasise your new curves really well .....i haven't had a look since the summer but would imagine they still have nice dresses on and the god thing is they are none too pricey and a lot of their stuff can be work afterwards too .

Good luck x

I wore this to a wedding with a big bump - it is not maternity but I got it a couple pof sizes bigger and the stretchy material fitted around the bump nicely.

Not at all bothered by the fact that it is now half price!!!

Try a stretchy wrap dress in a size up...?

Righty, I have narrowed it down to two options, thank you for all the suggestions so far!

TheMighty..., thank you for the Picchu link. Hadn't heard of them before.

The first option is from there, in fact. It's a tunic top that I could wear with leggings and smarten up with accessories. I think I'd get a lot of wear out of it later on, too. But do you think it would be smart enough for a wedding? It's this one.

Or, this tunic from Next. I don't think I'd wear it again though, as I don't have any xmas parties to go to (sad, I know), so I'd just sell it straight on again.

What do you think?

I think the Picchu top could work with some sort of dressy statementy necklace, and perhaps something in your hair...

I really like the Next tunic, but it's very black, so for a wedding, personally... not sure... It would probably come down to how good it looked on!

I've gone for the Picchu top - accessories all the way! Yes, I was a bit concerned that black wouldn't be great for a wedding...Thank you all Smile.

I really don't like the idea of leggings to a wedding - sorry! No matter how nice the tunic.

Sorry, just seen you've went for it, sure you'll look lovely :)

Black is perfect for a wedding because you can dress it up with glam accessories and afterwards still get wear from it. Have a fun wedding.
