Scan at 9 weeks

Hi there,
I had a scan last week which put me at 9 weeks and 1 day. The thing is, if I count back I was away on holiday then WITHOUT my partner. When I returned I had a period so the longest I could have been pregnant potentially would be about 8 and a half weeks approx. Obviously this scan cannot be accurate to the day, could it??!! Please advise, very confused....thank you :)

It's a rough guide, I think, it's not set in stone.

You might be nine weeks but it will be about seven weeks since conception.

You conceived 7 wks ago, they always add two weeks. For example if I conceived 2 wks ago I'd be classed as 4 wks pregnant.

I think the official start date for pregnancy is meant to be the first day of your last period. They assume that everyone conceives on day 14 of their cycle, so when they date you at a scan they automatically add two weeks to the age of the foetus. So as cupcake says if you are 9 weeks pregnant you conceived 7 weeks ago.

Just as well you found out eh? That could have been an awkward one to have to discuss with your partner lol. ;)

I know lol. I went to Germany to visit a female friend. I was only there a couple of days so that's why I was so puzzled and as it is my first pregnancy I really do not know what to expect at all lol xxx
