last night just before i went to bed i went to the toilet and when i wiped myself i noticed blood on the tissue not loads but enough to scare me! it happened a couple more times when i wiped myself. Cried ALOT!! rang out of hours doctors who pretty much said its just a waiting game and to see my doctor in the morning.

I hardly slept and was expecting to wake to huge amounts of blood but there was nothing in my underwear, a real faint pink when wiped myself first thing but nothing since.

GP has booked me in to EPU but not until Wednesday, I can't help thinking the worst, just wondered if anyone else had similar experience and there was a happy ending??

thanks for reading x x

It's so scary. But it's very common and not necessarily a sign that anything is wrong. Happened to me too. First time, sadly it was a MC. The difference was, it was accompanied by cramps and back pain.

Second time, spotting was light but frequent on and off for a few weeks, and I was in and out of that EPU checking their heartbeats all the time. (DC are twins.)

They're 10 now, tall, rugby-playing gorgeous boys who eat more than I do. I still remember how scared I was by that spotting. Hope your outcome is as good as mine was.

EPU was brilliant. Let me in all the time, even late on Christmas eve, to listen to their heartbeats every time I found blood. Just in case, though, put your feet up. Don't lift anything heavy, don't hoover (EPU told me that - as it's a heavy machine and dragging it round could be bad for you.)

Can you ring the EPU direct and ask if they have a walk in? Just say your GP appointment isn't for days and you are concerned. They might fit you in.

I had this at about 5/6 weeks and then again at about 8/9 weeks and it is very very scary - I had an early scan at EPU which was too early to see anything (only almost 6 weeks, could see the pregnancy sac & yolk sac but no fetal pole) so they asked me to go back 2 weeks later - after that the spotting stopped, and the next scan was fine - heartbeat and everything.

I think it's quite common, although very worrying, and unless the blood is red (it's apparently less worrying if it's pinky or brown) and you have cramping etc, then hopefully you'll be ok.

I hope that the days don't drag too much until Wed, and that things don't get worse before your appointment.

I had spotting at the same time as you with both my ds. When i went to the early scan the sonographer (?) said something very reassuring, the egg implants in the womb it makes in bleed, if you cut your finger you don't worry your finger will fall off. It was worse after standing hoovering etc. Both my boys were okay.

My spotting was red like the start of a period. I needed a panty liner. I've just remembered i had a cervical erosion which is why it was worse with ds2.

I had spotting at six weeks - bright red blood. Cried my eyes out, phoned NHS 24. But next morning, there was no more, and I had my 16 week appointment and heard the heartbeat today. Think it can be the implantation bleed at that time?

Anyway, take it easy, good luck.

I had it at 6 weeks and I'm now nearly 29 weeks. At first it was sludgy brown like the end of a period and it stopped after a day and then it came back three days later and was bright red blood. I was checked out in between incidents and after and everything wad fine! I know its hard but try and rest as much as you can. I found watching loads of crappy tv helped, just anything you can do to kill time and distract yourself until you get checked. I've got my fingers crossed for you op!

I had spotting at 6+1 weeks. Brownish blood followed by some bright red which terrified me. Mine was an ivf baby so went straight to my clinic and they scanned me and saw a heartbeat. They also saw a haematoma (blood clot) next to the gestational sac which was the cause of the spotting. The doctor.told me it was very common and would more than likely be gone by 12 week scan - which it was. I was so worried I also posted on here and lots of people messaged me to reassure me. Just wanted to let you know that there are different causes for spotting in early pregnancy and many of them disappear. I also had a friend who bled huge amounts throughout her pregnancy and now has a healthy 6 month old. The doctors always told me its very common to have early spotting. If you dont have the cramping and pain to go with it do your best to relax (easier said than done I know). Fingers crossed for you and let us know how you get on x

Another one here who had bleeding at 6 weeks with BOTH DDs ... brown sludge, red blood ... enough to think it was the beginning of a period.

they are now 3 and 5 and totally healthy (well, a bit snotty!)

Am keeping my fingers crossed for you.
