Some pains are normal in early pregnancy as the uterus starts to stretch and prepare itself for the pregnancy, and the embryo implants and placenta starts to develop. There's a lot going on in there, and pains don't necessarily mean that something is wrong.

If the pain continues or you have any bleeding or are concerned, phone your local early pregnancy unit. They will be able to reassure you, or get you in for a scan if necessary.

Good luck, try not to worry too much. Smile

I had pains throughout my first trimester and I'm not 22+3 and everything is fine! Stay positive, relaxed and if you have bleeding, you know what to do. Look after yourself xxx

If it is severe get an emergency appointment with your GP. Stretching pains are all part of the process, but it is better to get checked than sit at home if there is a problem. Side pains are a sign of ectopic.

Hi - I've had 2 Ectopic pregnancies and the pain in the side thing is a bit of a red herring. It's more like a pain at the base of your shoulder. And it doesn't go away, it's like a constant dull ache. However the clearest sign is bleeding. As other posters have said, some pain is common as the uterus stretches, often twinges. Having said all that if you are worried go to your local EPAU as it can't hurt to get things checked out if you are worried.
