Pregnancy

17w and not hungry despite everyone assuming I ought to be... Normal?

I am a bit worried!

My sister ate like a horse at this stage in pregnancy and I remember a friend shovelling down Pringles as if she had been starved for a week!

But I am just not that hungry.

First trimester nausea is long gone so its nothing to do with that.

Apart from a mid morning snack craving I just don't feel v hungry, unusual for me As even before pregnancy I was hungry from morning to afternoon (used to need 2 breakfasts, lunch and 2 snacks just to keep pangs at bay... Never been so bothered about dinner)

Is this ok/normal? Should I be concerned?

I'm no expert but I'd say as long as you're maintaining the calorie intake you were before and getting your 5 a day you should be fine!

You might just be one of the lucky ones who doesn't gain any weight ;)

It's normal. You don't need to eat much more during pregnancy, especially during the early stages. As long as you have some appetite and are eating normally I wouldn't worry :)

I think everyone's appetites change in some way. Those who ate like horses before suddenly find they're not as constantly hungry and those who didn't eat enough or whatever are hungrier. I know, deep down, that the big dinners I usually consume are not what I need. But normally, I can't help it. When I was pregnant, my body decided to make me do what it needed and I had two breakfasts and two lunches but largely skipped dinner. I "lost" weight in that except for my bump, I looked thinner everywhere else and was healthier than I've been in terms of weight etc for years.

It is one of those weird things where the body is surprisingly good at self regulating.

Thanks!! I think I have been under the impression that you are suddenly meant to start wanting to eat everything in sight. Tbf my normal intake is probably higher than most people (I do seem to eat a lot more than most of my friends!!! Greedy...) so maybe I am just at a normal level now which would be more for most people.

I have put on some weight already, mostly I think because am not exercising as intensely as I used to :)

It's normal. A lot of people find their appetites increase, some just eat because they feel they can. I'm 17 weeks too and eating normally, basically. I've put on about 6lbs.
