Can someone help me read this please?!

Ok, first post...Hello!

So we've been trying for a baby for a while now but nothing has happened so I've not really had any need to do a test. So, a few weeks ago I did one prior to an operation and general anesthetic (just to make sure) then the hospital did, all negative. Roll on 4 weeks (and no sex as I'm in pain!) and my period still hasn't arrived but I was reading it can be due to the stress of an op etc (due on the day of the op). To humour the nurse I do another at home and I get a very faint pink line. Now, not having much experience of this I really don't know whether to be happy or not! So, could I have a few opinions please on whether I can start buying cute little clothes and demanding ice-cream (ooohhh, weird I made some this morning ;-) )

One thing I guess is I feel pretty happy that it could be a chance so I guess that gets rid of any lingering concerns I had!

Thank you.

Actually, looking at the pick it's probably a shade darker in real life.

I would say pregnant. Looks like mine did. Congratulations (I hope!) x

Ok, sobbing again! Another question, how many did you do until you believed it?!

One. But I seem to be the exception on MN! If you are, you are and I hope I'm right. But that's definitely a line - it doesn't have to be as dark as the other line.

I would say pregnant too! congratulations! Smile

I did one test after another (including one of the digital ones that actually says pregnant) to make me believe it and then periodically kept testing over the next few weeks just because it reassured me!

I'm very confused as to how if the op was 4 weeks ago (did you bd just the night before?) but it does look very like my own early tests, i'm now 31 wks. I don't want to get your hopes up as its a bit puzzling! have to say that I was getting faint lines 4 days before expected period and really positive tests a whole 10 days before the doctor's test confirmed I was pregnant - their test 3 days after my missed period was 'inconclusive' so in effect I was almost 6 weeks before their test confirmed a positive (they blooming lost my pee sample 6 days after expected missed period) if any of that makes sense!

try another test early in the morning either tomorrow or on wednesday and good luck!

Thank you! Well, I have three more upstairs so I have nothing to lose. Now I just need to wait the long 4 hours for my hubby to come home...

Ahhh, Yes Clarella, that should have said 'roll on two weeks' - can I blame that on baby-brain whether I am or not ;-) I must admit, I normally wouldn't have bothered doing one before the op but there was a small voice in my head. I have been through a lot in the last few weeks so really was putting it down to stress and a huge amount of (hospital prescribed) drugs.

congrats, that is deffo a positive. you may of only just conceived 4 weeks ago which would make you around 6 weeks preg depending on how long you have between m/s, when i had my first i did around 9 tests, tried for two years with nothing and had a big fall out with oh decided we wern't going to try any more. then my friend thought she may be preg so made me do a test aswell (moral support) hers was negative mine was positive i nearly had a heart attack ran back to shops and bought loads of cheep ones all were positive.

I did another (digital this time) I couldn't wait until tomorrow, and there's no arguing with what it says! Says three weeks but think I have a lot to learn with what that actually means - I take it since my period was 2 weeks before that that's why I keep seeing people put things like 3+2?

Like I said, lots to learn, God I'm excited! I want to go buy cute little outfits NOW! And we can thank our lucky stars we haven't finished all the DIY we'd planned, need to be adapted to include a nursery. Eeeek, an actual nursery! I'm quite cynical and had prepared for this not happening so this is quite a surprise today.

3+2 would mean 3 weeks +2 days i did digital one also i dont quiet know how they work either. you should go from first day of your last period that's how many weeks you are till you have your scan which will give you a more exact date. congratulations x x

sundaesundae · 24/09/2012 17:13

You add 2 weeks to whatever the CB or whatever says, so you are 5 weeks, the + X is the number of days so 3+2 is 3 weeks 2 days. They'll go on LMP for now so you are pregnant two weeks before you conceive.

Congrats, I guess the GP will want to see you if you have had ops and drugs, at this early stage everything would probably be fine, but best to check I's have thought!

So pleased for you - those digital ones are really reassuring to see the actual word! Yep as Sundae say you add 2 weeks onto what the digital test says so if it says 3 weeks a doctor will date that as around 5 weeks, but will go wll go specifically of the first day of your last period.
Congratulations again, how did your DH react? bet he was thrilled!

That is a very, very positive test. The faint line is the control line, which means you have loads and loads of hcg in your body triggering the dark line.

Congratulations!

thank you! DH was a bit stunned (despite the fact we were trying, what did he think might happen?!) he looked a bit teary the went out to get his golf clubs in from the car and came back grinning! It's kind of weird, like it hasn't sunk in properly though we have started calling each other Mummy and Daddy - we're still getting used to Husband and Wife!

Away to the Doc's this afternoon to find out if I need to worry abotu the op and painkillers I've been on - fingers crossed they will say it's a hunky-dory.
