21 weeks - blood when I wipe, where's it coming from?

I was told yesterday that I have a water infection as I had blood in my urine. My urine samples are not bloody at all in fact they look really healthy light yellow as I drink so much water.

I had tiny pin pricks of spotting yesterday but now today there seems to be more blood but I can work out where it's coming from. Tmi but I've tried dabbing the tissue more towards my vagina entrance and there was blood there but it's not mucusy like discharge it's bright red fresh blood. Do u think it could be coming from my urinary tract? Or do I need to get it checked out?

Call your midwife or maternal assessment unit right away. Could be nothing at all, but you know you need to get checked out.

Fingers crossed for you.

Do get it checked out yes.

Just a thought, do you have any sore spots around there? Could it be your skin is bleeding rather than inside iykwim?

I haven't yet no because since I've been frantically wiping it seems to have stopped!!! I think I'm just going to see how it goes I'm not so worried as its not like period blood it's literally a spot on a panty liner about the size of a 5p piece then when I was dabbing tissue. I did wee in a clear cup and my urine is definitely not bloody to look at as I've heard of water infections so bad that you end up urinating blood. It's a bit of a mystery tbh! Il keep you posted if anything materialises. I really hate making a fuss so don't want to bother midwife unless I really have to ESP as I rang her yesterday as I was worried I may have a water infection! Pregnancy never frees you from worry does it!

If you're not sure where it's coming from, another possibility is piles

The blood found in a urine sample to confirm a UTI can usually not be seen that's why it has to be dipped with a reagent strip. Do you have any piles? maybe its these? Also maybe you do not have a UTI and the blood spotting has made the test positive. I think even if you are spotting its best to let your midwife know even if it's a wait and see outcome, at least she will be aware of it. Bit of a probing question but could it be anything else like from sex or having a large hard poo? Too much?

There is no quota on the amount of times you are allowed to ring the midwife! I know how you feel though as I always feel like I'm bothering people! But there are people who will phone everyday to the point of annoyance and I'm sure you are not one of those people x

It's not from sex (what's that) :) and it's not from piles I don't think I have them and I only dabbed the front. It seems to have stopped now but will definitely ring midwife if it starts again. Nothing is ever straightforward in my life!

Do you hv a low lying placenta, as this can cause bleeding? If so, would go hv myself checked!

Nope I have an anterior placenta that's not low just looked at my notes. Still no blood though so I'm a bit baffled!

To be honest there's little point in us guessing. Without seeking medical advice people aren't going to know the answer!
