This is my 1st post so sorry im not sure of the lingo and may ramble a bit.

Im 9 weeks 2 days pregnant with my 2nd and a type 1 diabetic. I have had 2 small bleeds with some cramping in the last couple of days sometimes a little blood on its own others blood streaked or pink discharge. I had a scan yesterday where i seen the hearbeat but they couldnt find a reason for the bleeds then had a small amount this morning so im now worried but dont feel i should contact the hosp again as i guess nothing has changed.

Has this happened with anyone else? Was the baby ok?

I bled on and off in the first 11 weeks and had a total of 5 scans in the first 3 months. I am now 33 weeks and all is fine. One scan showed bruising on my uterus which suggested it was growing quickly and busting a few membranes as it streched - hence the bleeding. I have known people to spot all the way through pregnancy so I am sure there is little to worry about. Seeing the heartbeat is a really great sign that all is going well.

Don't feel bad about pestering the hospital/MW about this as it is important that you understand what is going on and they are there to help. You will find them reluctant to scan you more than once a week as it will be growth that they are measuring to check all is on track.

I've had periodic bleeds right from the start, and it was eventually discovered to be due a second egg sac from a lost twin. I have got so used to them that I didn't bother to call the midwife the last time it happened, and she was quite cross about it. My advice is don't worry about calling the hospital, they actually want to know.

Fingers crossed for you. Early bleeding is very common.

Thank you, its just worrying isnt it I didnt have anything like this in my 1st pregnancy. I did ask yesterday when I should worry about the bleeding and was told to try and relax (easier said than done tho) and to call if it became heavy or i had severe pain, ive been having pain right from start but was told any kind of blood could cause mild cramping. Sorry rambling again.

95% chance of continuing preganancy once you've seen a heartbeat- that's the professional advice...

From personal experience- I bled at 8 weeks with DS1 and with this preg (currently 19+wks) I bled on and off from 4-7 weeks. Nerve-wracking I know. Wishing you all the very best

You are definitely not rambling! I had a little spotting at around the 7 week mark which lasted, on and off, for a few days. I had an early scan, they confirmed the heart beat and that everything looked normal. At this stage, so early it is all they can do.

HOWEVER, the leaflet they gave me did say that seeing a viable pregnancy at that stage, does reduce your liklihood of a miscarriage right down to about 5%-10%. And I was 2 weeks earlier than you when it happened to me.

All the advice also says that if it is not bright red, clotted and accompanied by cramps it is unlikely you are having a miscarriage. If you still feel worried, call them up but I think you'll be just fine.

Thank you for your message its nice to hear that all is well with you after having bleeds too and the odds r good. Just frustrating as between the 1st and 2nd bleed was like a week n thought myb id get away with just that lil bit then had 3 since fri night very small amounts (touch wood) Shall just need to take it easy well if my 4 year old will let me and try n relax

I experienced pinky/brown bleedng from about 5 weeks. I went to the EPU, the nurse did an internal examination and discovered a fleshy-like growth, which, when sent off for biopsy, was found to be a polyp. I was told this could be the cause of the bleeding.

The bleeding stopped at about 17 weeks and I'm now 23 weeks.

Have you/could you perhaps have an internal?

Hi
I had an internal scan before the bleeding had started at just before 6 weeks and the only thing they seen was a small cycst on my right ovary but was told that this could not be the cause, so glad as is well for u now

Aw thats good, yeah i thought implantation was earlier too but hey im sure the sonographer will know what they r talking about. Im just hoping it settles down n goes away so i can enjoy being pregnant n not have to worry all the time, the 1st cpl times it went away n i thought great myb now it wont come back but it seems to be sticking around this time all be it on a 'touch wood' small scale.

Heres hoping all goes well for both of us
