Hi, I'm just wondering how late people's period was when they got their BFP. My period is 6 days late - is it too early to tell??? Confused

I think it depends when you ovulate. But basically, the day you miss is the day you can take the test. I tested 3 days late (BFP). Pretty sure they are extremely reliable at 6 days late - try and see!

4-5 weeks each time (dc4 due Jan) I never find out until I'm 8 weeks plus.

Not late at all I got my BFP at 12 DPO before AF was due.

Thanks. Does the type of test make a difference? I did one this morning and it was negative, but it was a cheap on - 2 for a £1 - ha. Is there a better one I should be trying?? I was convinced I was pregnant, but now I am not sure any more. I have been feeling sick and had period like pains for a good 3 weeks now. My boobs aren't sore any more though - 2 weeks ago they were keeping me awake at night. I had some brown spotting the day before my period was due and the day it was due. Totally baffled!!

My period wasn't late, I have a regular cycle and when it didn't turn up I tested that day.

The test shouldn't make a difference if your period is late. Some of the more expensive ones can find a positive earlier than the day of your period. You can get false negatives but not false positives.

I got a feint positive on a cheapy the day my period was due, but I ignored it as clearblue and FRER were both solidly negative.

I then ignored it all (although in the back of my head I felt very pregnant (dizzy, nauseous, knackered, sore boobs, metallic taste, etc.) I had seen negs so went with those) two weeks later I gave in and bought two tesco cheapies, I did them both and on both of them as soon as the pee hit the window the line was so dark it was almost black!

HCG levels vary from person to person, so yours may just be on the low end.

I had a feint BFP 4 days before my period was due.

I used the cheap 2 for a pound ones 2 days after I was due and got a faint BFP/

I'd bought 15 cheapies off amazon, thinking TTC would take some time. First one was +ve (and the next 2!).

You'd have to check the sensitivity of a test, price is no indication.

I've still got 12 out of date tests upstairs if anyone wants one!

I have no idea when my period should have been due, I waited 2 weeks after we had unprotected sex to test and got a negative on clearblue digital on a Thursday, then what I thought was a faint positive on a cheapo test on the Friday (DH said he couldn't see anything and there was no line there Hmm) then a positive on clearblue digital on the Saturday. If it's 6 days since you were due then any test should be giving you a positive if you are pregnant, but try again. If you have drunk a lot of fluid and your wee is very dilute it might not have worked?

I think the superdrug pregnancy tests are good.

mrsgibson I used to have a stack of Internet cheapie dip sticks that said that they worked up to 4 days before your period but I never got a BFP until the day of missed period itself from those. I tended to use those and then a First Response to confirm, rather than using up the expensive tests. Most if not all tests should work from the day of your missed period so I'm sure you'll get an accurate result at +6 days. I like First Response and the Superdrug own brands - have always found them reliable and very clear. I've used Clearblue digital as well but I do worry myself about them; I'm sure im completely illogical but i worry that there's been some glitch that has made the wrong words come up, whereas with a test with lines I can see and understand the chemical reaction that gives the lines.

Oh and following on from emsyj 's comment - just like men can't tell when the milk is off, Ive found that my husband has never been able to see anything but the most vivid line on a pregnancy test.

I tested the day after my period was due - got a faint line on an internet cheapie and then a Pregnant 2-3 Weeks on a Clearblue Digital.

When I went to the GP to confirm the pregnancy the following week she said there was a very very dark line.
