NHS class on baby care?

Hi all

I have been to NCT classes on postnatal life, which was really good actually... Covered breastfeeding and crying and bathing and lots else. Tomorrow there is the free NHS class on looking after baby, and i suspect it is going to be very similar to the NCT one, although a bigger class so less time for questions etc.

Have any of you been to the NHS one on babycare? Was it worth it? I know that some NCT courses dont spend much time on babycare and just focus on labour, but our NCT course was v postnatally relevant, so i am not sure about the value of this one as well.

And getting there is going to be difficult, so i am hesitating.

I haven't been to the NHS ante natal classes, but have been told (by a midwife) that if you are doing NCT classes there is not a lot of point doing both. On the other hand I have also heard that the NHS classes have a bit more on epidurals/caesarians whereas NCT is much heavier on "natural" birth.

My local GP surgery does free post natal courses which cover things like first aid. You go when your baby is 6 weeks plus. Might be worth checking if yours does something similar?

That is a good idea. I will look into it. The nhs class tomorrow isn't about labour at all ( they had that last week and i didnt gi, since i had had nct)... Wll just be bathing etc. i will see how tomorrow goes i guess, and decide then... But that first aid thing after the baby arrives sounds excellent.
