Hiya - I had a 2-day bleed around my usual period time (though not that heavy) and it didn't quite develop into a proper period (kept waiting for it!) Tested a few days later after the bleeding had stopped and was pregnant. Could be implantation bleeding around that time, but don't want to get your hopes up.

Hi, thanks for your reply, did you do a test around the time of the bleed and get a negative? or did you just do the test a few days after the bleed and get a positive?

I've been googling, as you do, and discovered some women do get bleeding that seems like a period and don't test positive until further into the pregnancy.. I don't like this not knowing.. don't know whether I should be alarmed at an odd period or be excited that I might be pregnant...

I did a test about 5 days after my period should have started properly (so 3-4 days post bleeding) and got a very faint positive. Then I tested a couple of days later in the morning and it was a much darker positive. If you can bear to wait a week after your period should have started then you should get an accurate result. I used the Superdrug own-brand tests as apparently these are a bit more sensitive (and were on offer!)

Not quite sure when my period was due as my cycle can be anything from 24 days to 31 days.. the bleeding started on day 27 so yes I should probably wait a week and see what that shows! Oh the pain of waiting!

Smile It's hard to resist, but look at it this way - if you're too early it's the equivalent of just peeing on a £5 note!

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! Keep us posted!

I shall definitely be keeping that thought when tempted to buy a test! have had very slight pink spotting again at lunchtime, and a multitude of funny twinges in my back and front.. roll on the weekend when I shall allow myself to POAS!

Yes that happened to me and am currently 30 weeks into the pregnancy.

I had a negative pregnancy test on the day my period was due, started bleeding later that day and just assumed I wasn't pregnant. But the bleeding never got as heavy as usual and seemed to slow up much earlier than usual too, so I took another test just to check and got the surprise of my life get a positive result! Things were pretty up and down for a few weeks after that, as I wondered if the bleeding was a MC with the positive pregnancy test picking up on the hormone level from before the MC, so had an early scan which confirmed a heart beat, but then had more bleeding and hence was on tenterhooks until the 12 week scan.

Good luck and hope you get the same outcome as I was lucky enough too (I had had a previous MC so was expecting the worst this time too, happily I was wrong!).

Hi, thanks for posting, was your whole bleed bright red?

Even though bright red isn't meant to be a good sign normally I know I had some red bleeding at the beginning of my first pregnancy, have a lovely 5 year old to prove that red bleeding was okay Grin But that wasn't much and stopped quickly... and I'd already had a positive result.. oh it's going to be a long week..

My experience was very similar to imustbe only I didn't retest, so didn't find out I was pregnant until the following month. In my case it was a twin pregnancy with an early miscarriage of the twin, hence the bleeding (which was bright red). I am still getting some bleeding from the twin site, but the viable pregnancy is doing well and I'm 12 weeks now.

Good luck.

I'm so sorry to hear your bleed was the loss of a twin Sad wishing you lots of goodluck with the rest of your pregnancy.

I've been reading about breakthrough bleeding, I'm hoping that's what I've experienced, which could delay me getting a positive result..

For me the blood wasn't noticeably bright red but as you say, I know others who have had bright red bleeds with a successful pregnancy. Will keep my fingers crossed for you.

I had a five day light bleed of pinkish blood starting the day AF was due and didn't get my BFP until about seven days after AF was due. I think I ovulated later than usual that cycle. I had another bleed a couple of weeks later - again a light bleed that lasted a week or so.

I had been very active when both bleeds started - running a 5k race the first time and moving heavy furniture the second time so the midwife advised me to take it easy as she thought that my body was telling me to slow down. I duly slowed down and am now 33 weeks pregnant and bloody enormous.

Best of luck!

That's very interesting that you didn't get a bfp until about 7 days after your af was due. I've just been to the doctors as have been spotting the tiniest amount of pink when I wipe (sorry tmi!) for the last 3 days. Doctor asked if I'd done a test, I said yes yesterday (day 30) told her it was negative and she basically said as the test was negative it is very unlikely that I'm pregnant... eh?! I thought there was such a thing as a false negative... anyway I'm going to be booked in for a scan in a couple of weeks, if the bleeding starts up again I'll be sent sooner, there was mention of fibroids, cysts, miscarriage Sad But at this moment in time I feel like I did at the start when I was pregnant before... I feel bloated, have waves of nausea, twinges front and back, gagging at the thought of tea and some foods, having faint/dizzy spells... I suppose I've just got to wait Confused

Try not to worry, wait and see if you get any more symptoms, I had similar 1.5 day bleed in Jan that was lighter in colour than usual for me, I dont know if I was pregnant at the time but my Feb period never arrived and I just tested positive today. I have however had some symptoms for a few weeks - The sore breasts were seriously a huge alerter! However I dont know if I conceived before or after my odd 1.5 day bleed in Jan! (I havent had any official confirmation yet so no idea on how far I am!

I'm new here. Glad to be. Cramping started 7 days before which was never the case for AF all my life..but stopped as soon as bleeding started.Had what I'll describe as AF last month but it was extremely light on day 1 and 2.Day 3 and 4 were spotting. All days were dark brown blood(spoilt kinda) with tissue like materials. My period is usually 5 days with day 1and 2 extremely heavy, day 3 light. Day 4 and 5 very light/spotting. I've been having headaches, breastaches and even a little clear breast discharge during sex, food craving,leg/feet cramps with DH before and after supposed AF. Got 2 negatives during the bleeding and few days after. Now this month, bleeding came 1 day late, but dark red with mucus like strands(sorry about TMI). I'm confused don't know what to think. Has anyone been in my shoes and was confirmed preggy?!

I'm glad to get your reply @ Discopanda. The AF this second month lasted 2 days as the last one. The difference however is that this blood was red with mild cramps unlike the dark brown in the first month without cramps. Still confused though!!!

Hi, im having the same thing atm! I did a test about a week before my period was due as i had symptoms iv only experienced when I was pregnant, however it was negative! My period came unexpected on the 11th but wasnt due untill the 13th, it was different from the usual in that i had no cramps (which I normally get pretty bad) and it only lasted 2 days( normaly lasts 5). Did another test on the 15th but still negative, am i looking into this too much? Lol

Hey all
I'm completely new here - and don't know all the code words so excuse me!
I'm not yet a mummy but have been TTC for 6 months now. Husband may have low sperm count, we've started investigations around that.
But I've had a really weird couple of months period wise. In October I had a brown period that lasted 3 days max. I'm usually a 5 dayer with loads of pain. It was really light and weird. Oct cycle was 27 days. I did a HPT and got a negative. Then this month, November, my lutenising hormone didn't spike until day 23 (normally day 18) and now I'm very confused as to when my period is due. I've started having pelvic cramps, like a dragging feeling mainly on the left side.
I'm desperate to be pregnant and worried why it hasn't happened yet so I think I could be looking into it a bit much. But has anyone had a 'period' one month, late ovulation the next and turned out to be pregnant?
Thank you!

Hi! I'm not sure if it will help, but this is my experience:

  • found out yesterday I'm 5wks after having my last period which I now know was actually breakthrough bleeding. I finished my period barely a week ago and it was heavy one day with clots and then got light for 2 days and went to brown spotting, which I still have a tiny bit of now.

There's no reason why j should have tested yesterday other than being the freak I am and I'm pregnant! And 5wks. Do yourself a favor and don't use a cheap test, it took 4 Internet cheapies over 2 days of me desperately anxious whether the barely there lines were for real and 2 very Clear Blue digitalis that blatantly said I was pregnant and got the weeks right too. Good luck and fingers crossed for you

Hello everyone, glad to know i'm not going mad. trying to figure out if I could be pregnant. my AF was 2 days late and when it did finally arrive it was so light, the most I used is two pads and that was me just needing to be clean. It's now day 3 and barely any blood only when I wipe really (sorry tmi). I do have mild cramping, the blood is bright red and boobs are the size of melons! did a pregnanct test today and came back with a BFN much ti ny frustration. Could I be pregnant and just test agsin in a few days ? Very anxious

I started my period a week early this month, which has NEVER happened. It was very odd with bright red blood and I had cramps the whole 6 days instead of the first 2 days like usual. Then the cramps didn't stop with the blood! I've been to two doctors and they say it's just a weird cycle caused by stress...

But now in addition to the cramps I'm starting to feel the same symptoms as my last pregnancy: fatigue, sore breasts, frequent urination, and what feels like morning sickness (vomiting once a day and nausea throughout).

Ive taken 3 hpt over the last two weeks, the most recent tonight, all negative. It seems so unlikely, but...what do you think? If my last period wasn't a real "period," I'd be 6 weeks.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Blood tests are really expensive here, so I'm trying to avoid it as long as I can.

Dear luhunnie, sorry to her you haven't had the result you hoped for yet. 6 days from what i understand might be a bit long for an implantation bleed, sounds like your period just decided to appear early and (totally messes with you when it does that!). perhaps wait another two weeks by which time maybe your cycle has reset itself?
