Baby kicks

Hi everyone I am 19+2 and have been feeling (and seeing) baby kick now for about a week.

Today me and DP put earphones on my bump and played some Alice in Chains and the baby kicked me really hard quite a few times, we stopped the music and it stopped kicking then we started it again and it started kicking again! I can't decide if it likes it or not Confused

Anyone else got particular music their baby reacts to? also should I be putting earphones on bump? Maybe it was just coincidence it was kicking at that time or could it be it can hear sounds.

I put earphones on my bump, she likes anything with a deep bass (mainly punk) I think they can hear that better. I'm never sure if kicking means she likes it or not but then she kicks when she hears DH's voice so I guess it means she likes it.

Mine goes nuts when we're at the cinema and there is a loud bang, I think they can detect different sounds so I'm sure it's fine. Smile

Thanks for your responses.

I also heard that the baby can hear when an ultrasound or doppler is on the belly. I don't know how true this is as my source is a notorious liar

I'm sure the baby can hear when a doppler is being used, I used mine last night for the first tiem in ages as baby had been quiet during the day and as soon as I put it on s/he was kicking furiously and didn't stop til midnight! Serves me right for waking baby up I guess.

My bump kicks when DH plays guitar, which I'm hoping means he likes it! Also, I was in Germany recently and there was a thunderstorm like nothing I've ever heard and every time there was a loud crack it made both me and baby jump! So they definitely seem to respond to loud noises!

I watched documentary on foetuses in the uterus. They did ultra 4D ultra sound scans on the same baby at around 30 weeks and played different types of music. When the heavy metal music was play, the baby grimaced and tried to squirm away from the noise and her heart rate raised dramatically. She clearly didn't like it. When they played classical music, her heart beat only increased very slightly. She didn't have the same grimace on her face and she didn't try squirm away.

gardenpixies32 that's fascinating, I might start playing classical, I play the flute anyway so maybe he/she will like that.

littlemisssunshine3 I played a couple of songs, Alone and them bones, definitely responded more to Alone! Seems to have good taste Grin
