Anyone Else Had Tingling Arms / Hands....?

Disclaimer - I keep meaning to make an apt about this, honest!

I have started to increasingly get a tingling and numbness in my hands and more so my arms too. If I lay with my hands by my face, think 'sleeping' pose, I have a lot tingling / numbness within about twenty mins (it goes reasonably quickly though, about five mins after moving them) but have also started to get it when on the PC or also, but mainly on the right hand side (am right handed) when texting. Is this yet another pregnancy thing, or is it likely to be something else? Am 31 weeks.

Carpal tunnel syndrome? Mine went once I gave birth.

Yes I've had it for most of pregnancy it's carpal tunnel, my GP recommended I get splints to wear at night and said it should have gone by about 3 months after giving birth (numb fingers crossed)!

Definitely sounds like carpal tunnel syndrome to me too.

The splints didn't help me (although it does help others) but giving birth did!

Mine went very soon after I had my baby.I didn't get it in my next pregnancy.

Thanks ladies. I had my suspicions with that too, but didn't want to mention it in the op and 'give the game away', so to speak. Weird isn't it? It freaked me out a bit until I realised that's what it was likely to be. (I initially thought it was a just painful thing, but Dr Google proved me wrong.)

I had carpal tunnel syndrome first pregnancy and live in fear of it returning. Disappeared v quickly post birth (to be replaced with other hand problems alas)

I carry around with me a stress ball or beanie toy and sit and squish it ti ease the pins and needles. Isn't it weird though as it does not affect your little finger!! I hate the sausage feeling of the dead fingers, the squishing of the beanie toy during the night does stop this!

This is another reason why I can't wait for bubs to arrive, so I can feel my fingers again!!

Yes CTS had it with both my pg, worst with the first. Mine did take a while to disappear afterwards and did get a bit worse before it went.

If you use a pc at work please make sure you notify them as it is a condition that falls under your workstation assessment. There are a few adjustments that can be made ie wrist supports etc.

If you google the acupressure points for carpal tunnel, you may find that pressing these help relieve it! Smile
