So basically..I'm 32+6 weeks and for the past 3 days I've been feeling very strange, extreme tiredness but not sleeping throughout the night because of back ache. Anyway I keep getting this really sharp stitch like pain in my left side, its hurts like hell. Hard to walk and when its at its worst I can't move. It is accompanied by back ache high and low. But that it something I've had through out pregnancy.I've been feeling nauseous and very emotional/moody/irritable. Is this all normal for this stage? Could the pains maybe be round ligament pains? I went to the doctor yesterday, doc was running behind so had to see nurse, bp,pulse and temperature fine. And urine sample showed no infection. Its the pain on my left side which is the main concern. Imagine a really bad stitch like stabbing pain just above my hip. She said maybe baby keeps pressing on a nerve?

Did you see a nurse or a midwife? I have no experience of this specifically, but my advice would be to phone your midwife or the hospital (I have a number to call on the back of my handheld notes) and get it checked out. That's what they're there for.

confuzed90 I am 33 +4 and I have been feeling 'odd' for about 5 days now. Extreme nausea and completly exhausted. Have slept alot in the past couple of days but just dont feel right. Had a bad headache last night and ended up in bed very early .Baby has dropped and so I feel quite uncomfortable and irritable like you I would like to know if this stage 32-34 weeks is like this? Have other people experienced this?

I have the MW on Friday so I will chat to her about it. confuzed90 I hope you start feeling better hunny xxx

I posted this response on your other thread.

I had this a few weeks ago, came to the conclusion that baby had somehow trapped a nerve.

Would suggest applying heat/cold to try and get baby to move, or anything else that you personally can usually do to move baby, ice cold/fizzy drink etc.

You have my sympathy as it really was agony - was this not my second, i'd have been off to hospital convinced it must be labour!

No my midwife has gave me strict orders to NOT contact her with a problem. To either see nurse, doctor or go to hospital! Trapped nerve feelings are in the back and legs though arnt they? I didn't see your post sorry. Its very painful. Just hoping it disappears again, its bringing me out in tears. Hoping its just a phase, its my second too but I was induced first time so no idea what maybe beginning of natural labour feels like!

I cried too, it was absolute agony. Eventually felt the baby move off, at about 3am, and just collapsed into bed, after hours and hours of this wierd pain.

Please dont suffer. Do try moving the baby, in case that is all it is, otherwise, definately see someone. :)

Hi confuzed - sorry you're suffering. I started having very severe, sharp, stitch like pain on both sides of my bump at around 32 weeks. At its worst, it's completely immobilized me for up to 12 hours and has resulted in two hospital stays! Unfortunately I couldn't get a diagnosis - possibilities were trapped nerves, round ligament pain, or inflammation of scar tissue from previous abdominal surgery. Only sure thing was that it wasn't anything to be worried about as far as my health or baby's was concerned - had the full works of blood tests and a scan to rule out anything threatening.

It's happened on and off since I last got out of hospital a few weeks ago. When it comes on, I find the most relief from sitting up in bed propped up on pillows. I've had to sleep sitting up like this a few times. I use a hot water bottle wherever the pain happens to be most intense. Was worried about this, but Dr said it was fine, just make sure it has a cover on it and is not put on bare skin. You might find a warm bath helpful, or lying down on whatever side isn't hurting. Paracetamol helps a little - apparently codeine is also OK but I can't take it as it makes me too sick. When I was in hospital, they gave me gas and air for it, but unfortunately can't have that at home!

My worst episodes are brought on by excess activity it seems so try and stay off your feet as much as you can.

Here's my thread if any advice in here helps:

I'm 37 + 2 now and just hoping that I don't go too overdue as it will be pretty hard to take 4-5 more weeks of this. Fortunately I've finished work, don't have any kids to look after as this is my first baby, and am blessed with an incredibly sweet and supportive husband.

Good luck!

Your pains sound exactly like mine when I get an attack of it, it has eased off now. It really is the most painful thing I had ever experienced and I've been through natural childbirth. Absolutely awful. Thank god that pains eased off now I think I'm just having braxton hicks along with yet another back ache. When will all this stop!! Starting to really get to me now I'm so bloody moody because of the pains, which paracetamol doesn't touch and can't take codeine either, makes me sick to. I'm really starting to struggle. Agony day and night and their just getting worse by each day. Thank you though, you've gave my some reassurance about that pain I keep getting on my left side, sounds very similar. I actually thought maybe a kidney stone their that painful! Hopefully I won't get another episode of that and that the BHs or cramps or whatever they are now STOP! Sorry for the rant...fed up big style :(
