Who's awake at 5am?

It's almost 5am and I'm wide awake - actually debating weather to go down to the kitchen and make something to eat which is a first! God the last time I ate at 5am early hours of Saturday morning I would have been in my early 20s and probably strolling in the house drunk making the world and his wife a cheese toastie lol how things change hey!

I wake up every night between 4.12-4.20am it's really annoying, iv heard that it's likely that will be the time I'll go into labour - du reckon that's just an old wives tale? Or does it have any truth?

Anyway just thought I'd say hello to anyone else who happens to be awake at silly o'clock :)

Any tips on falling back to sleep quickly are appreciated.

Hayley xx

Hayley... I know the feeling! I am doing the same thing and I am still only in the first trimester. Very annoying as I know I will get sleepy very early tonight.

I'm up and feeding DD2. Had to abandon her halfway through as I was desperate for the loo, and DP had to come and console her. She was screaming.

Feeding again and wiling her to go back to sleep after, so I can have a bit more.

Morning Justhayley
You are not alone! I've been awake sine 3am just lying here in bed wishing I could go back to sleep but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.
No idea about whether this is an indicator of when you're going to go into labour. For me 3am is the time I wake if there is anything bothering me in the night. Early in pregnancy it was to go to the loo but now I think it's just stress. I was in a car crash when I was 12 weeks pregnant with a drunk driver in the other car and since then my anxiety levels are very high. I had injuries (broken sternum/ribs) which wiped me out for a few weeks but now (I'm 17 weeks) I'm feeling better the brain is taking over!
Anyway, hope you manage to get back to sleep successfully - maybe the baby was super-hungry this morning and just needed you to get up fit a snack ;-)

I'm up! 42 weeks and going for induction on Monday. Soooo big uncomfy and fed up Sad
I find the best thing to do is not let urself wake up too much. I keep my gaviscon, pain killers, a snack and a drink next to my bed.
don't go on mn as it makes the insomnia worse

Gosh more of you awake and on here than I thought! It's so annoying! I was like this in my first trimester & it's come back in the last few weeks! I still havnt got up to eat - I stayed at my mums last night and as soon as I get up her mad cat will start waking everyone else up!
I'm wide awake feel ready to start my day - although I no by 1pm I'll be shattered & ready to sleep! Baby is also awake moving about & kicking me in the ribs which doesn't help!
iv had a pretty straight forward uncomplicated pregnancy but god I wish I had my body back and the pregnancy was over, 8 1/2 weeks left feels like forever especially if I'm
Going to be awake for all of it!

Laying here getting annoyed I can hear the birds now lol

Thanks for coming and keeping me company Grin hope we all fall back to sleep before it's actually time to be awake!

I woke up at 11:50, 1:30, 3, 4:45, and am still awake. Tired, but not sleeping.

I'm up, sterilising bottles and making breakfast! You pregnant ladies should enjoy lounging in bed while you can, you will look back on this with longing when the bubba pops out :)

Wow, 8.5 weeks to go? Was about to say I'm jealous as I'm only 7-8 weeks. But in all honesty wondering how I'm gonna cope with an almost 2 and 9 year old when baby comes.

was awake between 3.30 and 5.30 got up for toast at 5, but did manage to go back to sleep til woken by dd at 8ish.

i slept really badly in first trimester despite being horrendously tired. i was going to bed at 8, sleeping for about 4 or 5 hours then lying awake for about 4 or 5 hours, exhausted, then fall asleep again before the alarm woke me up for work or sat in the bathroom puking for a while. someone on here suggested trying going to bed later, and that definitely helped. i stayed awake by watching tv, then went to bed, and although i still only slept for about 5 hours at least it was the 5 hours immediately prior to getting up, so i didn't feel quite so knackered at breakfast time.

last night i had just woken up, however, i think i would have gone back to sleep but dd got up about 10 mins later poorly - then i lay awake for a couple of hours.

I regularly wake up at 4:20. During the week get up at 5:45, so it's not too bad, but on the weekends I could do with a couple extra hours. I have ever been a good sleeper though. With my first I went into labour around 8:00 pm, so your theory didn't work for me. Sorry!
Hope you all get some sleep tonight!

Angry it's 4.30 & iv been awake for an hour Sad woke up to pee and then had 101 things on my mind so my brain has gone into overdrive now I can't get back to sleep. It's weird my DP is in the Army & when ever he's home I get a full nights deep sleep - that's not because I'm up worrying about him when he's gone because he's at Sandhurst at the moment so I no he's safe. I don't no what it is. If he was home more often I'd be so much less exhausted!

I've been awake since 04:30 too. Shouldn't be on here, I should try to sleep. I had a Chinese takeaway last night and it was very salty, so I keep waking up, needing a drink, and then needing to pee.

I don't think baby is impressed!

I know the feeling! Up with ds2. He gets up around 4am every day! There's no way of getting him back to sleep so that's it, I'm up!

He'll sleep un the buggy for a couple of hours on the school run though!

And I know what you mean about your partner being away. My dh isn't in the army any more but I used to definitely sleep better when he was home. I've always felt quite vulnerable when pg so I think I slept better knowing he was there to protect me!

Hope you can get back to sleep!
