Hiya just a quick weight question, I'm 26+2 weeks and have gained 4lbs in the last 5 weeks, probably about 12-14 during the whole pregnancy. I started off with a healthy BMI but am wondering if I should have gained a little more by now especially in the last month, or is my weight gain ok?
This is my first pregnancy so not sure how it should all work.
how much weight has everyone else gained by 26 weeks?
I want to be boringly average :

Thanks Hayley x

I weighed myself last week at 25 weeks and had gained 16lbs. It seems like a lot to me (but it's DC1 so what do I know?), but I'm not going to let it bother me. I would rather I had a little more to lose after DD arrives than that she wasn't getting enough nutrition!

I am 27wks. I have gained about 6lbs. My bump is minimal, i'm still wearing my pre preg size 12's.

Met with MW last week as was concerned, she said its fine. Ask yours if you're losing sleep. My MW said as long as movements are good, theres no real cause for concern.

I second what jambalaya said. I'm 22 weeks and I've only gained 2lbs with a BMI of 19 to start with.

If you are really worried speak to your midwife, but generally as long as measuring ok and plenty of movement I'm sure your baby is just fine, they get first shout on any nutrients.

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy xx

It's very individual but I'd say that's fine. I'm 32 weeks and have gained 19lbs, started as a size 10-12. I got worried last week when 3 people (just people on the school run so noone I know personally Hmm) told me I looked far too small for dates. But I saw my midwife last week and the baby measures fine. To be fair, I don't look especially pregnant, by this time with both other dc I was whale-like, but I do seem to be carrying this one very low down and tucked in.

Thanks all Grin everyones weight seems to really vary guess I'm ok! Iv got lots of movements and have had a growth scan 2 weeks ago and was told everything's ok. Think I'm going to stop listening to people telling me I'm really small for 26 weeks!
Really appreciate your replies
Hayley and my perfectly normal size bump lol xxx

If it makes you feel better I'm 34+2 and have now put 32lbs - heading towards 2.5 stone! Started out 9.5 stone and a size 10, so finding this whole weight gain thing pretty terrifying but I'm told I'm not unusual, so clinging onto that!

First pregnancy gained 3 stones in total, second 2.5, this time I'm 35 weeks and have put on about 1.5 stones.

Your baby won't go without unless you were seriously malnourishing yourself /not eating for days & weeks. They do say you're not really meant to eat for two although I'll continue to ignore that Grin
