Hi everyone.

Just had my first BFP (well three BFPs) to be precise.
The last one was a clear blue week one which says im 3 weeks +
I had a pretty heavy period last time round so Im sure conception has been this month and due to a pretty heavy month it can only of been on two occasions one that makes me 3 weeks, one that makes me 2 weeks.

Ive spent so long waiting for this moment but now I dont know what to do next!

I have folic acid will start that of tomorrow, I will eat lots of veg and fruit and try not drink my usual 14 cups of coffee a day.

Can anyone else advise me?

Im going to make a GP appointment in the morning what will he do?

Sorry if its all a bit jumbled im bouncy happy and can not tell anyone but DP as yet!

I would bypass the gp to be honest. They tend to just smile and refer you on to the mw. Congratulations on the pregnancy!

You can get lots of info on food does and don'ts on the nhs website too.

Good luck Smile

Congratulations! It can all feel a bit surreal at first can't it?

I assume there was some use of hyperbole in the '14 cups of coffee' comment, but you should try to cut back to about 2 cups a day, at least for the first 3 months. There are certain foods you are supposed to avoid too - check the NHS website.

Agree about GP not doing much but go and see them anyway - they will update your notes and refer you onto the midwife team. And I expect it brightens their day a little to hear a good news story instead of a moan!

Some areas make you see the gp first so give them a ring and ask if you have to or if you can book in with the midwife. If you do see the gp it'll be mind-numbingly boring, sorry. They don't do anything exciting at all so don't expect fireworks and flowers. They'll tell you to take folic acid and not to eat pâté and send you on your way!

And congratulations! :)

I second the advice to phone your doctors surgery and ask them who you should go and see. At my surgery the doctor doesn't want to see pregnant women. You just go to the midwife, at about 8 weeks pregnant (ie six weeks from conception - I'm guessing the 3+ on the test was weeks from conception? Making you 5+ weeks pregnant)

Definitely take the folic acid. Cut down your coffee (switch to decaf?). Nhs advice now is no alcohol when pg. have a look on the nhs website for the list of foods to avoid but off the top of my head, unpasteurised cheese, pâté, runny eggs, rare meat, some seafood...

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Congratulations! Once you've followed the advice already posted about contacting doctor/midwife/taking colic acid, go out and buy yourself some lovely, soft, stretchy yoga-type trousers, some luxurious toiletries and something nice to eat that you wouldn't normally allow yourself. For me it was a pack of 4 full fat yoghurts. They were bloody lovely.

Congrats Grin I really enjoyed signing up to a baby website and getting weekly emails with lots of info related to my stage - www.babycentre.co.uk is a very good one, but there are lots of others.

What about getting a pregnancy guide book too? Or dropping lots of hints so that someone else buys you one Grin Do try to take all the "advice" with a pinch of salt though, you will be bombarded with it from all sides soon enough - if in doubt follow your own instincts!

Oh and get yourself mentally prepared for suddenly needing lots of naps and/or feeling sick, it may start kicking in soon, so enjoy yourself while you can before it does!
