Feeling the baby move for the first time - non-stop or just now and again?

I think I felt movement last night before I went to sleep; there was a definite light, bubbling sensation that I've never had before. Nothing since, though. Could it have been the start of the LO moving or should I be able to feel it all the time? I have a HUGE bump, if that makes any difference!

I first felt movement at 19 weeks and would have 'nothing/quiet' days till about 24 weeks.

Oooh, how exciting! Mine was intermittent and quite soft to start with, like you say, bubbles or fluttering. In the following 4 weeks it's become more 'kick like', but still very intermittent, like LO is practicing cycling or kick boxing for 30s at a time. All the movement I feel is down the side of my belly, nothing at the front, but I've been told that's because I have an anterior placenta that's acting as a nice fat cushion!

How many weeks are you?

With both of mine, the first movements have been like popcorn popping, but only one or two sensations then nothing for hours or even days. First felt at about 17/18 weeks with both. Am now 22 weeks, and it's only really in the last week or two that I have had noticeable movements, and only 2 days since DH was able to feel anything.

Night is the most likely time to feel it. It's a slow start ( first time around I wasn't sure until the hygienist used the cleaning tool and he went NUTS!)

It will build up gradually until it feels like the are trying to escape ( that's me now!)

Agree with everyone else who has said it is intermittent to begin with. I first felt DD around 18 weeks, but for a good 2-3 weeks it was a really light, low down sensation. Now at 23 weeks, there's a lot of little flurries of movement and the occasional big kick. I am only just beginning to work out her patterns. That said, I find I feel her a lot more when I am in certain positions.
