As above, I am devastated and I don't know what to do. I saw my GP on Thursday to be referred to the midwife so I am not on the system yet. Do I just sit and see what happens or do I need to go to the hospital to check it out and if so where do I go ?Sad

I would go to the hospital and see what they can do to help you, they must be able to give you some idea of whether you are. Best of luck and hope your instincts are off and that baby is well x

Can you call the out of hours GP? What makes you think you're miscarrying? Poor you, hope all turns out okay.

Is there any early pregnancy unit at your local hospital? I would try that first, some let you self refer.

I had an early miscarriage in March, my pregnancy tests never got any darker, started getting lighter as my symptoms went away I woke up before I had any cramps but just knew it had ended, I then started to bleed.

My GP took some blood tests to confirm what I already knew my levels were too low for a viable pregnancy.

I really hope thats not the case for you there are lots of stories on here about bleeding in early pregnancy and I am sending you lots of hugs and best wishes.

Take care x

Hello Sproglet,
Sorry for what you are going through - it may not be a miscarriage as it is possible to have pain and bleeding and all being well.

What you need is an ultrasound - at 7 weeks you should see a heartbeat assuming you are sure of your dates and have a 28 day cycle. If you are not sure of your dates or have a longer cycle it is possible you are less than 7 weeks and the results may not be so clear and they will need to scan you again in a couple of weeks or do hcg checks over 48 hours to see if the levels are rising normally.

If you go to a&e they will probably examine you and then book you in for an ultrasound but you may need to wait a few days. A&e cannot do much at weekends except say you are having a 'threatened miscarriage' - this doesn't mean too much as all bleeding from the cervix is called a threatened miscarriage so whilst it sounds ominous it may well all be ok.

Good luck x

Sproglet a pregnancy test may still be positive even if you are miscarrying as it can take weeks for the HCG levels to fall.

Bleeding is very common in the 1st trimester and symptoms do come and go so it could well be nothing but it is best to get it checked out for your own peace of mind.

I would say get the GP to refer you to the EPU. They should be able to scan you within the next few days. Unless you are having very clotty heavy bleeding it could go either way. Perhaps if you go to the GP they will be able to examine you to see if your cervix is open or closed. If it is open, a miscarriage is about to happen, if it is closed the pregnancy may well continue.

Wishing you all the best and hope you manage to get seen soon.

:( hope everything turns out ok for you. I had an internal scan at 7 weeks at the EPU as I had extreme cramps, I was told to expect a bleed soon - I'm now 16 + 1 weeks Grin I know how you feel the unknowing is horrible, try push an appointment so at least even if the worst has happened you will know. Hope your instincts are rubbish and everything turns how ok. Hugs xx

Just done a CBD test and says I am pregnant 3+ but like you say it can take a while for the hormones to drop. I think I will give it a couple of days and test again to see if the weeks is says goes down. I have no symptoms to say it is eptopic i.e. no shoulder pain ore one sided stomach pain just back ache that feels like period backache.

Right have just spoken to Out of hours nurse on-line and she said to take it easy for the rest of the day and put my feet up. Funny enough she said this was quite common in subsequent pregnancies and try not to worry and to contact my GP tomorrow to get an early scan. She said if I suddenly get severe pain or soak a pad every 20 mins then to down straight to A&E .So fingers crossed and lets hope it is ok. Thank you all you lovely ladies for your support and will keep you up to date xx

I really don't think HPT's are going to help, can take 6 weeks to get a negative.
I have had numerous miscarriages and if its going to happen then resting/putting feet up will not affect the outcome.
I wish you well. Is there an EPU you could ring on Monday.

Hi I just wanted to tell you my story, I'm 6 weeks pg and started bleeding 2 weeks ago. I called epau on the Tuesday and they got me in for a scan for the Wednesday. They also did an internal exam and discovered a graze on the neck of my womb from previous pregnancies and births and it was this causing the bleed. They also took blood and checked my hcg levels which went up but did not double in the two days but Mw said this was absolutely fine.

The scan showed just an emPty sac, should have been more as I thought I was further along. Went back 6 days later and they saw a sac and now a yolk so ultimately my dates were 2 weeks out. I really thought it was all over and was devestated but it seems that everything is ok. This is also my 3rd pregnancy.

I really hope everything works out for you. Please stay away from google though as I only seemed to find adverse things on thee about my situation Xx

Hi
Just wanted to say I've had bleeding on and off since 5 weeks (just had another at 16 weeks!) and went to A&E with mine- as advised by EPAU and Antenatal- I did have an early scan and have had internal exams (ouch!) each time but nothing has turned up s to why I'm bleeding. it was never a lot of blood, however the Midwives and Doctors have said to come back every time it happens.
So I would say try A&E if you feel that you want help now- don't be worried about 'making a fuss'

So sorry Sproglet.....it doesn't sound promising but there is still hope and I would still reccomend getting to the EPU so that you can make sure that it is a miscarriage and it is complete and there is nothing left. Sorry for what you are going through it is rubbish - do you have someone with you to look after you? x

Doesn't sound promising sproglet, but please still make an appointment with your GP...you should be checked over either way.

Keep those feet up in the meantime, looking after yourself is important no matter what the outcome is xx
