I had a vaginal posterior repair about 4 years ago after the birth of my second son (was not planning any more children) Having another baby at 39 - is it possible to have a normal vaginal delvery after this operation. Please let me know your experiences.

I chose not to risk damaging my extensive repair when I had DD#2 in Feb2010 - 3 years after DD#1's arrival at 36 weeks...she was 8lb & her delivery was a bit of a disaster - they were expecting a small prem baby!

I opted for a c-section for #2 mainly because the surgeons had done such a great job that I had suffered no 'down below' front or rear problems at all and felt this was worth having a section for.

It was definitely the right decision as I ended up with gestational diabetes too and DD#2 was 9lb at 38weeks!

Baby#3 is due at the end of the year and I will also be having a section.

Best of luck with whatever decision you come to.

I was diagnosd with an anterior and posterior prolapse after DS in Aug '09. My consultant said he would not recommend another vaginal delivery after a repair so I'm waiting until after DC2 due in Nov to have mine fixed. He said it would be physically possible but would be highly likely to undo the repair and its the sort of operation which is never as good second time around. Personally, if it were me, I would opt for a section.

I had my baby 6 months ago, and I am about to have a perineal body reconstruction next time, as they left me open with around 2cm muscles not stitched up. The surgeon recommended a posterior wall repair at the same time, even though I was not aware that I have posterior prolapse at all. (I haven't decided if I want a posterior repair yet, but I guess if any good thing about this repair is to increase the sensation during sex)
I have made up my mind with a C-section for the next baby. But at the same, If someone had a baby after a perineal reconstruction/ prolapse repair surgery, can you please share your experience with me?

Thank you!

@mumtojandk this gives me hope. I need A&P repair after my first child and cannot fathom staying in this state for the next 5 years if we decide to have more kids. One urogyn has said he’s happy to operate and any further children need to be by ELCS but the other 3 urogyn I have seen say finish your family first as even pregnancy can undo the repairs 😭 how are you now?
